Your description of engine noise is one that would cause me to have it investigated. From day one that I have had my car, over two years now, engine noise has never caused me any concern. On cold mornings I am often surprised, so quiet, and pleased to discover, that the ICE is automatically...

I have an account with Chargemaster (£7.85/month) which I find useful because I often travel to Milton Keynes and use the chargers in the Premium Parking area (£2/hour) which is free of charge whilst plugged in. Elsewhere because my car is registered with MK’s Green Car scheme I can avoid all...

Indeed which is what I did. Safe in the knowledge that the cable hadn’t been removed and it was still charging. Without that independent cable lock it would have been possible for someone to remove it :)

I once plugged my car in and sat in a nearby Costa. A while later I got an email from Mercedes asking if I knew the car was unlocked !

It is to ensure that cable isn’t maliciously removed after you plug in and leave the car. You have 30 seconds which is more than enough to open the plug port and attach cable. How difficult is it to just touch the rear door handle to unlock the car if you time out ?

My 8 metre cable was replaced by MK two weeks ago. Prior to collecting it I was told by Clive (parts department) Bedford that he could see just two being available, one in MK and the other in Stevenage. You would be lucky to discover that the Stevenage one is still available but worth a call.

I have had an email from Mercedes customer services telling me that arrangements are being made for my battery performance to be examined. I pointed out that on the Mercedes website the claim is made that the 350e has a range of 31km(around 19 miles) and for that to be achieved it follows that...

Free Chargemaster for two years Just switched energy supplier from Ecotricity to OVO. Did the sums and I save on both electricity and gas. Not a huge amount, about £50 per year, but the real bargain is that OVO will pay my present membership fees to Chargemaster for two years, that’s nearly...

I think that the Battery Management System will prioritise the ICE and ancillaries and if the main battery is set to Save then it follows that at some point the ICE will be used to maintain the chosen level. On a cold day stopped in traffic with no energy being harvested the HVAC alone would...

Isn’t it the case that if a level of charge is required to be saved then E-Save is the correct mode. However because ancillary power consumption is occurring all the time, HVAC, Lights, Radio etc, it is inevitable that the ICE will be needed to ensure the desired battery level is maintained ?

I think the Haptic pedal is of great value if economy is important. Plainly if the intention is to pass traffic in front when your car comes in range of the traffic in front the system will function. However isn’t the case that the feature is only available when driving in E Mode ?

My Rolec Chargepod has stopped functioning and I wonder if anyone has a view about the difficultly of repairing it. Looking at the image below I am suspicious of the discolouration of the socket face. Do they all look like that after a couple of years or is it an indication of a surge...

Isn’t the default setting the lower setting? Mine requires that I press the button in order to display four lights, the higher charge setting.
