It looks like it is not a merc/hirschman so the whole unit needs replacing. £65 all done does not sound too bad so I will go for that

No it is just an old fashioned key. No batteries/flashing LEDs/flicknife action............ Just a key-quaint really

I have just picked up a '92 W124 and only got one ignition key. (as ever the guy is looking for the others...) Do I need to get an extra one from an MB dealer or do the normal key cutting places do them?

:) :) Yes I suppose that is exacly what I mean if it is for a 124TE How do we go about relieving you of this rubbish that is clearly cluttering up your garage. There is even a chance that I may not charge for removal!!!;)
