I've started getting an evil missfire under acceleration in the SEC - lumpy, feel vibration through the seat, lack of power. Idle seems less smooth as well. Revs smoothly in neutral. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what it may be?

I've had the MB front discs and pads changed several times now on my SEC, but after about a week the brakes start squealing again on gentle braking under 30mph and when coming to a halt in traffic. Any suggestions on squeak-free pads, or is there another solution?

Thermostat changed (and passed its MOT!!) - temperature now sits at 80 degrees. Unbelievable difference to the effectiveness of the heater - feels like there is a log fire under the dash now. Someone told me I might also get another couple of mpg - fingers crossed. Thanks very much for the advice.

Please forgive the probably stupid question, but what is the ideal setup for torque and power? It sounds like a small engine with less torque can produce the same power as a bigger engine with more torque if you rev the small engine high enough, but does this mean you need to be using 7k+ to...

Classic Mercs are very tempting, but will they run on unleaded or do they need expensive head work? The ones I have in mind are: 300 SEL 6.3 280 SL Pagoda Any ideas on how much it would cost to convert to unleaded if it needs to be done?
