Get a Land Rover Freelander 2. A lot of the early cars are now within budget. Shop around and get the best you can afford. The SE/HSE spec are comfortable, have a nice high driving position and will go anywhere. Despite LR's reputation the Freelander 2 is a decent reliable motor car.
