    W203 Tiptronic Gear Selector Problem

Hi! all. The continuing saga of the tiptronic gear selector problem. It started when I had nothing showing on the display to show what gear I was in. I could put the car into drive, but nothing showing on the display, and it would only stay in one gear. Also when I stopped, I couldn't put it...

    W203 Gear Selector Problem

Well thanks for everyone's help! I took out the gear selector today. I put it on my workbench and dismantled it. I then cleaned it out with some PCB spray and blew it out with some compressed air. When I reassembled it, all seems fine. Just hope that's all it was.

    W203 Gear Selector Problem

Gear Selector 2001 W203 Hi!, Yes it's a 5 speed tiptronic automatic. When I turn the ignition on I get a visual display of the gear selected, i.e. S for Summer or W for Winter and underneath what gear I'm in, P,R.D . Sometimes the two rectangles that normally show the gear are just blank...

    W203 Gear Selector Problem

Hi! all, I have an intermittent gear selector problem which I have been told is probably due to dirt ingress or maybe even spilled drinks. Apparently this is a common problem where people spill liquids all over the gear change. I was wondering if anyone had had a similar problem, and more to...

    W203 Gear Selector

Hi! all. I have a 2001 C220 CDI with a suspected gear selector problem. Sometimes the display on the dash showing the gear selected, shows nothing, sometimes it shows the gear selected. When there is nothing showing, it will allow me to select drive, but it just stays in one gear. My Son has a...

Temperature Gauge Now Only Reads 50/60

Just as a point of interest, my 2001 C220 CDI was running at no more than 40 to 45. I bought a kit from Mercedes which consists of the thermostat housing with thermostat, the sensor and the rubber seal. £43 all in. I changed it yesterday and it now runs at about 80 degrees. Nice and warm now!

    Fuse Layout

Many thanks, but I've checked all the obvious places for the layout. As Grumpyoldgit said, they often go astray.

    Fuse Layout

Hi! all, I'm hoping that a Tech out there can help me. I've got a 2001 C220 CDI Estate S203. I'm trying to find a list of what fuses do what. I've got an owners handbook, and a Haynes manual, but neither show exactly what fuses do what. I know where they all are, but that not really much help if...

W210 E300TD still difficult start - what next?

Glow plug Removal Talking of Glow Plugs, I found this on Youtube. A bit barbaric, be hey! it worked. Being an Electrician, the one bit that I didn't like was when he was playing with the Jump leads. A bit too close for my liking. He just leaves them on the floor. Not good. Ade how to change...

How To: Change a thermostat W203 C Class

refitting the thermostat housing A quick question. Do you need to put any form of sealant on the thermostat housing. I see it has a rubber ring, so I'm not sure if this still needs to be sealed. It's just that I was always taught to use sealant on water and oil joints.

    W203 Oil Level Dipstick

Dipstick The same here. I managed to get one for the automatic gearbox from Ebay, but apparently they are different lengths for the engine oil. I would be interested if you find one anywhere. Ade

    Electrics stressing me out HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not trying to teach you to suck eggs, but have you checked all the fuses. I know mercedes have fuses all over the place. If you have all the faults that you say you have, it does point to a fuse. Fuses also blow for no apparent reason. I would remove them all, one by one and make sure that they...
