    R129 Suspension Question

Hi All, It's been awhile since I've posted on this forum. I recently received a car from my uncle who finally conceded that he is no longer able to drive. It's a SL500 R129. It has languished in his garage for at least the past six months and the front suspension had gone down. I was...

    What color is your Merc?

Current colour trends do seem so very austere. A sign of the times? I've got one black, four blue and a white car in the garage presently. Only the white is a non metallic.

    Mercedes Owners Endless TODO LIST?

I think a person's choice of a user name has a lot to do with their experience. In my observation, it's so often the case that those will ill fated user names have bad experiences to report. Perhaps try changing your user name and see how you go. I see "200,000 miles sans drama" is still...

    Unfortunate Names.

When I was 8 years old, I commenced a new school year with a new teacher just arrived from the UK. He wrote his full name on the black board. He said my name is Michael Thomas Barrell, and yes I already know my initials will give MT Barrell. We all thought it was great! Moving on...

W123 Blower Motor - Full of Water!

There's something that looks like a black rubber elephants trunk in the centre of the firewall on the engine side. Put a couple of fingers in there and see if you need to pull anything out. Debris can lodge here too.

Will You Put Your Hand Up To A Stupid Moment?

That's pretty much what my brother did at about the same age. He hooked himself in the back of the calf. My doctor father had to cut the eye off the hook and feed the whole thing through as the barb wasn't going to allow it to go back the way it came in. Ouch!

    Dash Cover.

They're popular in Asia too and they're also mostly RHD. Try looking for dash mats on ebay. Also widely used to hide cracks in the dash on older models.

    Dremel's. Advise please

I've had a battery operated Dremel for some years now. It's been a fantastic little tool. I used it to polish tap spindles when I when through that period of overhauling every tap in the house. My mate used it to polish brake calipers and pistons recently for one of my cars. Basically I've...

    Considering buying a R129 500SL - what to check?

"I've read about biodegradable engine loom insulation - what was the problematic date range for this?" Any MB from 1993-1996 would potentially have a biodegradable wiring loom. The looms have paper tags that show part numbers and dates, so look for this to check the date of manaufacture of the...
