I was experiencing black smoke and mass smoke exodus from the exhaust when revving hard so I thought I would invest in some Wynns Professional DPF cleaner. It has made no difference so then it made me wonder. Has a 2002 W163 ML270 CDI actually got a DPF?:wallbash:

Does anyone know if the doors from a pre-facelift w163 will fit on a post facelift one?

Update Update. The engine now starts and stalls. Then it starts if you turn the key and hold it for 30s which is not ideal. I am thinking its not the glow plugs and am now thinking maybe you are right about the fuel delivery system. Is there any way of checking?

Thanks, it's a surprisingly different experience to driving my old Discovery 3 HSE. I think for the money MLs are very hard to beat and look forward to spending some quality time with mine..

Update Greenfly were called and they started the engine eventually. They said it was the glow plugs. When warm the car seems to start ok now so I guess I know what needs doing, although the car seems to make what sounds like a grinding noise (I know theres a whoosh sound in some other MLs but...

Hello everyone. After driving a Land Rover Discovery 3 for 9 years I have just taken delivery of an 02 ML270 CDI. I confess the reason for my jump has been purely economic as I frittered my hard earned pennies on a recession of Maseratis (coupe, Gransport, Quattroporte, Anniversary Spyder)...

I just bought a 270 CDI 2002 home and have just tried to start it and it won't fire. All the warning lights come on in position 2.The heating coil light goes out but all the others stay on and the car tries to turn over but won't fire. Any ideas?

Thank you. I am picking the car up today and will check vin and engine no. I was concerned that it might have been scrapped and rebuild although theres no mention of it on the check I ran. I didn't realise that cars could be wrongly spec'd on the V5c. Live and learn. I've made so many mistakes...

Puzzle. V5 says manual but car is auto?? I bought a ML and when I ran the usual checks I discovered that the car is registered as manual on the V5 but the car is definitely an automatic. Has anyone had any experience of this or any advice? I tried searching on the web but didn't find anything.

Saw it in the flesh I popped down last week to have a look. Lots of body work required. He also has a saloon badged as a E43 AMG.
