I sat next to Martin Freeman when doing my A levels. He used to do a great Pob impersonation.

What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

Bit of a mixed emotion job on the S212 today! I’d lost one of the spherical windscreen washer jets and as a bodge fix (as we leave for a tour of Scotland on Tues and wasn’t sure if I’d have time to source the assembly and fit) I araldited a plastic plate with a hole in, in its place. On...

    broken screen wash hose...

Sort of related so rather than starting a new thread…. Does anyone know where the routing for the rear washer goes on an S212 - from the reservoir at the front. I’ve got the front wheel and arch liners off and can see the reservoir, pumps, routing for the front washers and headlight washers...

    Cheesed off with your Mercedes?

I’d really like to see stats at 10 years old. I still consider 5 years to be a new car! I’d like to see how the longer term durability holds up.

What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

I swapped out the front power socket for a usb and voltage jobbie. Needed a bit of fettling to get it to fit but quite straightforward. This is the third one of these I’ve installed in our cars!

    Cheesed off with your Mercedes?

Well it ended up also needing rear discs as well so total bill just over £800. Probably unfair comparison with the Alfa though as I spent £3k on that in the last few months! I love the S212 but for sure it’s not the cheapest to run. But then I’d still prefer it over something Japanese.

    Cheesed off with your Mercedes?

Ah that makes sense - its also needed new rear discs as they said they were coming apart on the inside (never seen that to be honest). I trust TM Motors, they're a good outfit. When i was on the phone to them i heard a customer in the background saying he had been coming to them for over 40...

The UK Politics & Brexit Thread

My nephew wanted to do an engineering apprenticeship of some sort. He got close with Bae Systems but then just missed out - apparently they are hugely oversubscribed. He didn’t want to go to Uni but decided to give it a go in the absence of anything else meaningful he could find. He’s loved...

    Cheesed off with your Mercedes?

Boo! Mine needed more expenditure today. It was in for a service and front pads but also needed something for the handbrake as it was rusted at the back. Total about £700. I would normally do things like pads myself but I’m tight on time before we go on a Scottish road trip Tues. I’m...

R231 / SL owners - where are you getting your wiper blades from?

I’ve also noticed Halfrauds has got markedly more expensive this year across the board. (Compared to the competition). Same with B and Q.

R231 / SL owners - where are you getting your wiper blades from?

Slightly off topic but i need some new blades for my S212 - i normally use Bosch Aerotwin. ECP who i normally get them from are about £40 and quite a few other places mid 30's. Then Amazon £21.38! Next day delivered with Prime. No-brainer but how do Amazon do it? 🤔

What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

I booked mine in for an early service today as we’re driving up to Scotland for a road trip in a week or so. Really looking forward to another long trip in the E, about 1600 miles. Annoyingly it committed a negligent discharge and fired one of the spherical washer jets into space. I’m...
