    400,000 Mercedes Recalled

Timing is everything... My sons 2011 W204 220CDI lit up the airbag warning light on Saturday for no apparent reason. He's now expecting the airbag to detonate imminently. He is hiding under his bed..:)

    A3 Service & ATF Change?

I think this is the answer. Basically an A service, plus optional other work. Some has been done recently. The ATF & filter change is recommended, and is something my Indy servicer can do. So sorted, and thanks all for the advice.

    A3 Service & ATF Change?

My trusty C250CDi is approaching its 5th birthday and 43000 miles. The display has just come up with service A3 required. It looks a fairly simple service, but MBs online service calculator says this is a £950 job, a B service plus change brake fluid & fuel filter (both done last year), air...

SLK 350 Noisy heater blower motor removal?

Glad it's OK:) Just check the drain tubes are kept clear - particularly after autumn when dead leaves turn into stoppers...

    The end of fossil fuel

There are a number of possibilities - from lamp post chargers to filling stations you drive to. Impractical at the moment, certainly. A pure EV just isn't the right solution for people in your situation. And there is a major problem with EV currently - taxation. Revenue is easy to collect for...

    W204 Stop/Start gradually dying.

Same symptoms as mine. Best guess I can come up with is some of the sensors, while operating without triggering a fault, don't read consistently. I've checked the temp & voltage ones and they seem OK. At least it works sometimes. :dk:

    W204 Stop/Start gradually dying.

I forgot to follow this up at the time, so here goes. Lots of sensor checking, everything as it should be, no errors logged or any other symptoms at all. No loose connections or dodgy wiring in evidence. The randomness continues, aircon, either manual or auto operation slows it down, and it...

SLK 350 Noisy heater blower motor removal?

Sorry for the delay... As far as I remember I got a genuine MB part from a UK dealer via Ebay (about £30 cheaper than the parts dept at my local dealer). This is an example.. Genuine Mercedes-Benz R171 SLK Heater Blower Motor A1718350104 NEW | eBay There are some cheaper pattern ones, but they...

    W204 Stop/Start gradually dying.

I eventually got round to checking the voltages. Cold, aux was 12.65v, main 11.8v. Started the car and both up to 12.8v, so that looked healthy. Stop/start works, but even after a 50 mile journey the stop bit only works for between 15 and 30 seconds. More checking, I think.

    W204 Stop/Start gradually dying.

It is a complex system! It does work, just seems rather tired, as it were. I'll check the aux battery voltage and see if that looks OK.

All C43 AMG owners - What shall I do?

It appears to be a genuine issue with the current crop of cars, which MB may or may not address at some point in the future. It depends if you are buying or leasing the car, as I suspect the issue could have some impact on residual values. Buying the car, cancel and wait for the outcome and...

    W204 Stop/Start gradually dying.

I've a 2012 W204 C250cdi. The start/stop function is gradually becoming slower to engage, and lasts less time. It occasionally turns green after a mile or so, but more usually it takes 10+ miles. The time it will operate in stop mode has gradually decreased to between 10 and 60 seconds. I...

S205 - Boot / tailgate fully open this morning, frozen inside!

Happens about once a year with my C250. I'd assumed I'd accidentally pressed the boot open button and not noticed. Perhaps not..

    W204 Disk wear.

Just had my 2012 C250CDI serviced. No surprises, except front brakes. The car has done 30,000 miles, and the front disks/pads looked OK for another 5 to 10 thousand miles. However the dealer says the disk is down to the minimum (26mm), but the pads are OK, 5mm+ £423.64 to fix! Are W204 disks...
