    Supply for GPS - non-switched W210

Oh my! That was so easy it is embarrassing! :o Fuse 2 is fed by a fat white wire with a yellow trace. This is 12V switched with ignition. Fuse 5 is fed by a fat red wire (no trace). This is 12V always on. Cigar lighter is fed from fuse 2 by default,, thin black wire with yellow trace...

    Supply for GPS - non-switched W210

I can't PM you as my post count is too low, but my email is david dot partridge at perdrix dot co dot uk I have the list of fuse locations printed on a piece of paper inside the top cover of the fuse box under the bonnet - that just says Cigar lighter is on location 2 or 5 and it is in fact...

    Supply for GPS - non-switched W210

OK, so there are two positions to choose from - which fuse is that, and where is it (under back seat, or under bonnet)? For now I'll settle for the cigarette lighter being the only outlet and always on. As for running a new cable from fuse 30 (?) I'd rather like to avoid major dismantling...

    Supply for GPS - non-switched W210

My GPS antenna and phone dock has a lighter type plug to supply the necessary volts to keep it running. This is all fine, but the moment I turn off the ignition, everything is lost as the cigar (cigarette) lighter is switched with the ignition. Re-boot time for the GPS can be very slow (up...

    Diagnostic Fee

Is the practice of charging £58 or so for a main dealer to even look at the car now business as usual? That's sad if so. Almost as worrying as the description of the DC1103 training course on the MBUK web site which has the following amongst its objectives - To develop a "sell not...

    Quesion on W210 Ignition Switch

Well, I got precisely no where with Mercedes who effectively said if you don't like it you can lump it. But I note the following: 1) There has been a successful class action against MB in the US for not releasing the information about these keys. 2) I figured I had nothing to lose and opened...

    Quesion on W210 Ignition Switch

Thanks for that info - the key still unlocks the steering column when inserted, but won't turn and the remote unlock doesn't work. The price I've just been quoted for a new key fob and blade ('cos they don't do the old style fob now) is £281.18 which has left me speechless and furious :mad...

    Quesion on W210 Ignition Switch

A couple of years back the local dealership replaced the Electronic Ignition Switch in the dash next to the steering column as part of an attempt to resolve a "no start" problem. Would one of the side effects be that the spare key would stop working and need re-synchronising?? Thanks Dave

    s320 cdi loosing power?

My guess would be the MAF - STAR diagnostics will tell all. Dave

    W210 E320 CDI non-starter tale

Yesterday my E320CDI wouldn't start after coming out of the bodyshop where it had been for a couple of weeks for a new set of front wings and other stuff under the corrosion warranty. MobiloLife came out re-charged the battery, cleared the faults, and all seemed well. Drove away, and used the...

    E320 CDI W210B Engine noise

E320 CDI W210B Engine noise [not] - solved Well as they say "I'm ******ed!" Totally unrelated (or so I thought) to this issue, I had some inside edge wear on the front tyres, so yesterday evening I had the wheels swapped front to back (and re-balanced while they were at it). Now blessed...

    E320 CDI W210B Engine noise

Noise is hard to describe other than to say it sounds like a noisy diesel. I know that doesn't help much. Dave
