Hi - I have the replacement seals but was just looking at a tear down and rebuild guide - lots of vids on youtube for the front cylinders above the windscreen but nothing much on all the others.....I'm waiting for the weather here to warm up (a lot) before tackling this now.

I have a seal kit for doing the cylinders but I cannot find anywhere any guides on the actual rebuild process for the rear cylinders - loads for the front cylinders and quite a lot for how to remove the main lift etc but not on how to strip down and replace the seals....I've spent hours looking...

Interesting....mine does have the little rf ? box with input for a phone. There are indications that an aftermarket phone/car kit was installed as there's the usual leftover the mic near the rear view mirror....havent found anything else. I guess the loom maybe was changed in later vehicles...

Thanks much obliged - Good to know. I was pleasantly surprised when it worked....will place that in the 'fixed' pile and move onto all the other things - hydraulic roof seals next I think !!!

My 500sl antenna was toast - or rather the electronic module was; I acquired another Hirschman 6000 to swap the module but the 'new' module is clearly a different design and has only three wires in the connector whilst the old one (pictured) has four. I’m getting a rasping clicking noise on my 93 500sl which I’m sure I was told was a known problem with teeth getting stripped off the vent control ?? Does this sound about right and if so can anyone point me in the right direction for how to resolve it. I presume I need to remove the trim in...

Hmm I'll have another look....maybe it's a pre facelift thing ? - meantime I have snapped bolt on the trans sump to fix - a real PITA...

Yes it is - it's just I stupidly tried to nip up both ends and so snapped the casting on the 'thick' end. Also the blade I used has two narrow strips of spring steel and I was worried one would dislodge and scratch the headlight. Maybe I needed to be more selective on the blade....

HaHa - Unfortunately I just did that before I posted - thought I was being so clever - got a spare blade I had in the shed carefully cut it to length popped it in and nipped up one end ....then thought I'll better nip up the other...snap - what a xxxx If I find an alternate I'll post it up...
