Advice welcome - classic service in Surrey

Huxleys Mercedes in Fleet might be worth a shout. They tend to do more modern stuff but I have seen old SLs and an old 70s S class in there before. Ask for Liam. He looks after my CLK and has an excellent reputation locally.

Anyone have a lift / pit or ramps in Hampshire area

Ah, that’s ideal! Had no idea such places exists. Waterlooville isn’t too far. Thanks a lot for that. Perfect answer!

Anyone have a lift / pit or ramps in Hampshire area

Hi all, A bit of a strange request. I live in North Hampshire (Fleet) and was wondering if any forum members lived nearby and had access to a ramp / pit / lift. I’d really like a get under my CLK and have a good look around for corrosion as well as check the state of bushes, links, subframe...

    CLS 63 - Red

Well I like the interior and exterior. That would be my dream spec. Shame I can’t afford it! Out of interest, what is that red colour known as? It’s not fire Opal is it? Special order / designo?

    Resin Driveways / Paths

Depends on the gravel substrate, but I would be very wary about jacking on a board on gravel. Just feels risky. Maybe in an emergency to change a wheel, but I wouldn’t be doing it regularly. Someone near me has a gravel drive but has a car park space sized concrete slab as an island in the...

    Resin Driveways / Paths

Just to add my 2p worth. I like resin but when we looked it was - as above - £££££. So we went for gravel! Personally I find block paving a bit too austere and it does always seem to subside over time. My driveway is narrow and long. Only 9ft wide but around 30ft long so cars tend to...

    Parts started to go brittle

Unlikely to happen any time soon. I have a healthy scepticism related to JLR products and quality. Can’t see my ever going that way!

    Parts started to go brittle

Ask a BMW owner. Famed for brittle plastic all over which makes them a nightmare to own as they get older!

CLC V6 coupes balance shaft affected range or not?

There’s no Russian roulette about it. Simply find a car for sale, ask for the engine number before viewing, check it on the link already posted in this thread and if it is out of the range you are good to go. Very simple check to do. That’s how I found my clk. It was very low effort to do...

CLC V6 coupes balance shaft affected range or not?

Yup, just check the number and if it’s outside range, the M272 engine is really no worse than any other. They can have solenoid niggles and the odd sensor issue, but not particularly expensive to fix. The balance shaft isssue is the one to avoid as that is £££££ to sort out.

CLC V6 coupes balance shaft affected range or not?

Yes, the engine can be affected. Highly unlikely in a 2008-9 car. You can easily check by checking the engine number against the many google sites which tell you what range of engine numbers were affected. I have a 350 engine in my 2008 CLK and the engine number is well outside the affected...
