    Kids at the pump....

This gave me a flash back to my dads Cortina estate; reg number CVW988X, if memory serves me correctly... My siblings and I used to argue over who would sit in the boot as it was the best place to be! Now those were the days, waving at the cars behind.

It did take him 16 hours? ;)

    Kids at the pump....

Reading this, the forecourt seems like the place to be. Condoms, booze, fags.... Party at BP!

    Kids at the pump....

Great idea. What could possibly go wrong....?!

    Kids at the pump....

It's such a lovely thing to do with your kids. Totally agree with the wheel changing idea. I'll try that one. Unfortunately my 9 year old daughter has just discovered these horrific hair bow things (they have a 'name' apparently) which she was parading about in yesterday. She can just about open...

    Kids at the pump....

Thanks for sharing. That's awful and obviously something to consider. I wouldn't let my kids near the nozzle for this very reason.

    Kids at the pump....

I completely agree. Hence I had no beef with the attendant. He was doing his job and enforcing the rules as he saw them. I was just surprised on the day.

    Kids at the pump....

Ha! We live in Kent as it happens. His small hands are perfect for jobs like that. I must warn you though, his rates are extortionate! One troublesome exhaust bolt on my motorbike cost me 50p on Saturday!

    Kids at the pump....

Yep! I have never sheltered my kids from anything, my son in particular (unfortunately my daughter resides on 'planet pink'....). He's the first to light the candles on the table, or the BBQ. He helps me strip down my motorbike, and he carries out some tasks etc. He knows about H&S and the use...

    Kids at the pump....

Thanks for all the feedback. It's been an interesting read. It maybe worth noting that this forecourt was massive and at no time was my son in the way of any traffic. He was stood by the drivers door, so not sniffing fumes etc. In a small or busy forecourt, or if I was filling up on the opposite...

    Kids at the pump....

So, I stopped at the services to get some fuel today and my son, who's 8, got out to stretch his legs while I was filling up. We were chatting; as you do, and the attendant announced over the load speaker "no children at the pumps" and cut off the fuel. Now, I fully understand that no one under...

Jumbo: The Plane that Changed the World.

Yep, I believe they are all 100's and the last ones were retired by 2014. That's not to say DU isn't still used, but I'm not sure. Problem is, it's good to use as trim weights, but it's highly corrosive and the maintenance is obviously a bit dodgy. As far as I'm aware; as in munitions, it's not...

Jumbo: The Plane that Changed the World.

As an ex Aviation Weapons & Explosives Engineer it always amused me how the first 500 or so 747's contained a significant amount of depleted uranium, in the guise of trim weights. So when you return from holiday with that 'holiday glow' it could be down to between 400 and 1500 Kg's of DU being...

    100% Original Conditon CLK 55...not.

Just noticed it ended 'unsold'. That was a huge surprise... I think the forum has a moral duty to buy this monstrosity and give it the Viking burial it deserves.
