    New Mercedes-AMG C63 confirmed as 650hp hybrid

Assuming they do go ahead with the ban's planned in the UK it's pure ICE cars by 2030 and Hybrid's by 2035 I seem to remember. That's only new car sales so of course there will still be ICE cars and hybrids on the road by then. Still 20 years is a long time when it comes to technology so at...

    New Mercedes-AMG C63 confirmed as 650hp hybrid

Absolutely but just saying I feel it’s a little different at the moment is all. Hybrids are a stop gap solution until EV’s and the charging network get there. A car that’s got an ICE and a tiny EV range doesn’t feel like it’ll last the ages. Say you take a Merc or BMW engine like a 6 cylinder...

    New Mercedes-AMG C63 confirmed as 650hp hybrid

What company would give our C63’s as a company car? Don’t think that’s it, it’s the fleet average CO2 targets they have to meet that drive these changes. It is obviously a stepping stone car. If it’s any good then one for a PCP / lease but as a car to own long term, probably not a great idea...

    New Mercedes-AMG C63 confirmed as 650hp hybrid

Ah OK I stand corrected though I believe Mercedes' themselves said on one of the videos about this engine that the reason it makes more power than it did in the A45 is because of a larger turbo. If they didn't have the e turbo to spool it up before there's enough exhaust gases then that bigger...

    New Mercedes-AMG C63 confirmed as 650hp hybrid

Not sure that's a completely fair way of putting it. Early turbo cars had a huge level of lag (Though a lovely feeling when you hit boost in my opinion). To improve that and many things have been done we've reached the stage of bi-turbo's where you have a small one that spools quickly then the...

    New Mercedes-AMG C63 confirmed as 650hp hybrid

Cannot argue with that but it’s not the old school apples to apples comparison anymore. There’s an e turbo so that should give it a lot of shove but more importantly the electric motor is going to give it some serious punch. I imagine until the hybrid E63 / E73 or whatever they call it comes...

    New Mercedes-AMG C63 confirmed as 650hp hybrid

Speed limiting is indeed going to become very draconian and I’m concerned it’ll remove the desire to even have a fast car anymore. Still when your not on, going fast then surely having a higher fuel economy figure if it pulls it off is a bonus? And before people say the normal “If you cannot...

    New Mercedes-AMG C63 confirmed as 650hp hybrid

I see a few inaccurate statements here as I’ve watched the various videos plus read their lengthy press release on this. The car can make the ~640bhp for 10 seconds at a time, otherwise it’s around ~540bhp. Not sure how often you can utilise those 10 seconds of course. It’s based on a 400 Volt...

    W205 C63S 'things'

Ordered the car in Sakhir Orange. I like to travel under the radar ;) I had one for 2 days when considering the C63S and it became my second choice. Agree the AMG's definitely sound better and I wanted the smaller car. However it's quicker, more comfortable and cheaper. Ordered my wife a new...

    W205 C63S 'things'

M5 ordered yesterday. Comes to £10k more than my almost fully loaded C63S (Quite a few of the options on the M5 as well) and £200 a month less. Larger discount, 0% APR and higher residual to thank for that. Just cannot beat the offers BMW do. I looked at a lot of different types of cars. By the...

    W205 C63S 'things'

My dash wasn't too bad and I could have lived with it. By the time it had been in 8 odd times they'd got that solid as a rock and it wasn't making a single noise. The doors I couldn't live with however and they never managed to make a dent or change even to the noise they made. :( Car choice...

    C63S may have to go

Interesting. God rid of my C63S at the weekend. Is that a car you already had or picked something new up? Not sure what I'll go for. Ordered fully loaded new car for the wife (New Mini Clubman, very comfortable ride vs most mini's). So will be back to 2 cars soon and no rush to make a decision.

    W205 C63S 'things'

Looking on Wikipedia it's got it as Feb 2014. So year and a half roughly. That's quite a long time to workout kinks and they aren't in the first model year either. Anyway my C63S is refunded now. Dropped it off Saturday. So the hunt for something else starts but not sure what I'll go for...

    W205 C63S 'things'

Or another brand? ;) The W205 C63 might be new but the W205 wasn't just released. The bulk of the issues I've had with the car haven't been C63 related issues, they affect the smaller engined models just the same. All human assembled things will have problems sometimes, it's quality control...

    W205 C63S 'things'

Interesting. As I'm told the clips need breaking off and the strips being glued in instead. You'd think if there is an official fix as I'm told, all dealers would be fixing this the same way. Agree the build quality on the W205 C series is awful. Yes nothing mechanical has gone wrong currently...
