    Old Sprinter brake failure

It looks as though the problem was due to the ABS pump seals letting in air. I had forgotten about this thread so details in a new one.

Sprinter brakes suddenly admitting air and failing

I have had an intermittent problem with a 2006 413CDI. Working fine one minute, brake pedal almost to the floor the next. Just enough brakes left to allow pumping pedal to bring the van to a halt. Vehicle recovered to MB garage and master cylinder replaced. All good for about 1000 miles when...

    ABS control module repair

I just sent a Bosch ABS pump to ECU Testing. Very efficient and speedy courier collection and unit tested within a couple of days. Unfortunately it wasn't repairable. Pump returned the day after test. My only criticism is that it took a lot of effort to get details of what was wrong. I will...

Sprinter 413. Was this limp mode?

Set off in my 2006 pre face-lift Sprinter this morning. I came to a hill of about 1 in 8 to find I had no power. I ended up in first gear doing about 10mph and unable to accelerate. As the road levelled out I could accelerate reasonably quickly up to 30mph. Turned round and headed for home...

    Old Sprinter brake failure

Thanks, Steve. On all occasions the system has bled out fine and worked as well as the dodgy Sprinter brakes ever do. The ingress of air has been alarmingly sudden in every case and after each near miss it has been the right rear that has bled out a load of air. Were the master cylinder the...

    Old Sprinter brake failure

My 2006 Sprinter suffered brake failure whilst in France with brake pedal hitting the floor. Taken in to main dealer who diagnosed dud master cylinder and replaced with new. It was ok for journey back but the next driver reported that pedal had excessive travel as he arrived in the yard. I...

Vito Dualiner - Goods vehicle speeding ticket - NO!

I agree with your caution, but it's pretty clear that the windows just need to be behind the driver's seat. Could be anywhere, any shape, any size and as many or as few as you like. Could even be at foot level. The only stipulation is total area. That said, the nearer you are to the accepted...

Vito Dualiner - Goods vehicle speeding ticket - NO!

I share BTB's caution about the camper, but more because of weight than windows. I don't think the side windows have to be next to the rear seats. See full definition of dual purpose vehicle: a vehicle constructed or adapted for the carriage both of passengers and of goods or burden of any...

Vito Dualiner - Goods vehicle speeding ticket - NO!

I don't think load capacity is a factor. I believe it is kerb weight which isn't always easy to find. Unladen weight less fuel & 70Kg driver etc. Sorry to nitpick, but I used this thread to fact find for my defence, so I think it's important to keep it as accurate as possible.

Vito Dualiner - Goods vehicle speeding ticket - NO!

I don't think so. It's a car, not a van. Most of it is pretty well defined - car, car derived van, van, lorry... The grey area is smaller vans that are not car derived. Either dual purpose vehicle or not. The definition is reasonably clear but is not well published or well known

Vito Dualiner - Goods vehicle speeding ticket - NO!

I recently had a notice of intended prosecution for 70 on a dual carriageway for my Vito Dualiner extra long wheel base. Pleased to say that I found enough useful info on the Gov.uk website to print out and send off with pictures of the car to get the intended prosecution withdrawn. The main...
