One of my brake pipes is leaking and I need to either replace the failed section with copper pipe or replace the whole lenght from the rear to the front of the car, however to replace the whole pipe will require dropping the fule tank as the original route takes all the brake and fuel pipes...

I does look like the fuel lines can be replaced without dropping the fuel tank. In the end I just cut away the rusted parts and replaced it with a long rubber hose which ran all the way to the fuel filter. I am hoping to be able to replace all the rusty fuel and brake lines in a year...

It could be a failed fan viscous coupler. I'm not sure if W203's use electric fans or viscous couplers.

Did you do the work yourself ?. Just as I cut the rusted part I found another part of the fuel line where rust had weakened the pipe. Unfortunately the good part of the fuel line is tucked under the rear anti-roll bar, I 'll have to run a longer length of hose from there to the fuel filter.

Had a look this afternoon, the leak is from a corroded metal fuel line where it's shaped into a U bend. One end of this fuel line connects to the fuel filter via rubber hose while the other end seems to disappear into the into the bodywork. I am hoping I can cut out the corroded section and...

Quick question, is the return pipe located on top of the fuel tank ?, I was'nt able to inspect it myself to find the source of the leak but will do so at the earlisest opportunity.
