R500 smoke from exhaust on startup

I did not notice any smoking prior to doing the oil change. I bought the car last November but did.t drive it for about a month whilst waiting for reg etc documents to come through, I then carried out an engine flush and oil change.

R500 smoke from exhaust on startup

I have recently noticed puffs of smoke from my exhaust on start up after the engine has warmed up, it's ok on first start up of the day, however after it's been driven and parked for a short time it emits a puff of smoke which smells of oil on start up. I can also get it to smoke if I let it...

    DIY M272 balance shaft repalcement

The situations changed slightly, I have since bought an R500. The R350 will become my "spares" car. I might still fix the engine having found out that my local Mercedes Benz dealer sell the repair kit for £300. I have most of the equipment required to do the job apart from an engine stand. I...

    DIY M272 balance shaft repalcement

My R350 with just over 94k on the clock appears to be showing signs of balance shaft sprocket failure, I've got codes P0018, P0019 as well as codes for cylinders 4,5 & 6 misfiring. In addition I can hear the timing chain rattling. My research tells me it will cost upwards of 3k to get the...

Help with deciphering work list !

My father recently took his car in for a service at the main dealers, he also asked for the car to be checked because the A/C had stopped working, fuel guage not reading correctly and a ticking sound which lasted a couple of minutes on start up. I have attached a copy of the healtcheck report...

    Brake pipe replacement question

One of my brake pipes is leaking and I need to either replace the failed section with copper pipe or replace the whole lenght from the rear to the front of the car, however to replace the whole pipe will require dropping the fule tank as the original route takes all the brake and fuel pipes...

    W202 fuel leak - Help !

I does look like the fuel lines can be replaced without dropping the fuel tank. In the end I just cut away the rusted parts and replaced it with a long rubber hose which ran all the way to the fuel filter. I am hoping to be able to replace all the rusty fuel and brake lines in a year...

    W203 Overheating

It could be a failed fan viscous coupler. I'm not sure if W203's use electric fans or viscous couplers.

    W202 fuel leak - Help !

Did you do the work yourself ?. Just as I cut the rusted part I found another part of the fuel line where rust had weakened the pipe. Unfortunately the good part of the fuel line is tucked under the rear anti-roll bar, I 'll have to run a longer length of hose from there to the fuel filter.

    W202 fuel leak - Help !

Had a look this afternoon, the leak is from a corroded metal fuel line where it's shaped into a U bend. One end of this fuel line connects to the fuel filter via rubber hose while the other end seems to disappear into the into the bodywork. I am hoping I can cut out the corroded section and...
