Flaking chrome overlay on steering wheel

If you can get the wheel off OK (and can live without using the car for a bit!) you could send it to the following - they will be able to vacuum metallize the parts you want re-chromed - basically chrome plating the plastic. They did the hub caps on my wife's Fiat 500 and they've lasted over...

What year did merc introduce dpf into the cls

    Cabin Filters W211 V6 CDi

Nope - definitely only the one filter under the bonnet on my car! Had everything out of the footwell today!

    Cabin Filters W211 V6 CDi

I was only aware of the filter under the bonnet - I can't find any other filters for sale on tinternet either. I'll be fiddling under the glove box tomorrow trying to silence my "chirping" blower motor so I'll have a look then. (I have a W219 but all the "bits underneath are virtually identical...

Don't Rely on Approved MB Dealer Fitting All the Parts After a Service

Main dealers are appalling - very poor service at a very high price. I've posted threads before on this subject - I've had them try to charge for replacing filters they haven't even touched. Sadly a main dealer service entails you being charged a lot of money to have the car washed and...

the day before its MOT this happens

Lewyboy is right - the wires rub as you open and close the boot. When they wear through you get the symptoms you describe - easy and cheap repair though. Only issue with mine was that it went at the beginning of a holiday - pain in the ar*#!!

    320CLS Kick Down Problem

I suspect the turbo is on the way out - mine is doing the same! My previous W211 (same OM642 engine) did the same thing, it gets more frequent and eventually starts going into safe mode. If you plug it into Star you'll get "Exhaust back pressure" fault showing - something to do with a seal in...

    Glovebox dampening in W211

Lol!! I had my W211 for 3 years and always thought it was odd that the glove box opened like that (and cracked into the wife's knees!) - never thought it was broken as it was like it when I bought it as a an "Approved Used" used car from a Mercedes Dealer!!

    Mercedes Benz Newcastle

Like Yugguy above I've had bits from them on ebay at very good prices with quick delivery - I'm generally very suspicious of stealers but it seems they may be the exception to the rule!

    Miles per tank

The I6 diesel is even better on fuel than the OM642 V6 despite what the official figures say - I've had two of both!

    Miles per tank

It costs 8p per litre more - so even at £1.08 per litre for diesel it's not 10% more to buy. Anyway, you get triple Shell points so you get money off vouchers every few months and it'll save you considerably more on maintenance as you're less likely to have problems with your injectors and fuel...

    Miles per tank

I completely agree with you - plus you get triple Shell points so you get a nice money off voucher every few months. It's also a lot better for the engine - my 2006 E320CDi was on 184,000 when I sold it and was still on the original injectors, fuel pump and EGR valve. Well worth the extra...

    Dealership Servicing - Beware!!!

I had to to keep the "Approved Used" warranty valid - different to a manufacturers warranty on a new car where EU law says you can get anyone to service it so long as you comply with the service schedule and use genuine parts - the approved used warranty is underwritten my Mondial and you have...

    Dealership Servicing - Beware!!!

Ask to see the old parts - no reason why they can't keep hold of the air filters etc. Also, don't some MB dealers do a video report on the service now to show you the issues - well that's what I saw in this months Top Gear magazine where they're running a C63AMG (they must hate that as they'll...
