After speaking to MBUK it turns out that the C300e doesn't support the tow bar from the factory despite their literature (it is deemed unsafe with the batteries in the rear). No idea why the main dealer thought they could fit one against MBs advice but they have agreed to a refund as I bought...

They're electric bikes so weigh 24kg each - in addition bikes on roof racks almost halve the fuel efficiency / electric range on a motorway £750 - lead time is a year I think Consumer Contract Regulations - it can be returned within 14 days

Obviously I'm not going to do anything to a brand new car to invalidate the warranty - that's plain daft. I'll return the car if they haven't got a sensible solution.

Interesting - they haven't mentioned that at all. I only want it for a bike rack - not to actually tow anything. Smacks of modern MB penny-pinching - why not fit a capable cooling system to an estate car in the first place like they've always done.

I have already spoken to a couple of specialist tow bar companies and they won't fit a MB towbar to a brand new car as they are not authorised to do so which will invalidate the warranty.

It is the hybrid and it is suitable for towing. The factory towbar option is £750.

Have finally come back to the Mercedes fold with a new C300e so looking for some extras. The supplying dealer won't give 10% on parts - miserable gits!

Was running out of time to buy something! Had been looking for a CLS SB / 535d Touring but nothing around that wasn't £25k+ or in my budget but high miles and patchy service history etc.

I have had corrosion repaired on a previous MB as the second owner however the corrosion wasn't there at the time of sale.

Do you have a legal reference to this at all? It's what I thought but short of getting solicitors involved etc it might make them see sense.

I bought a vehicle privately (2nd owner) and have noticed defects in the paintwork. The manufacturer warranty is transferable (and has been) yet the retailer is saying the defects if from new were accepted by the first owner - surely this is just nonsense?
