    New record?

I did have a good look and there's nothing obvious and, with the old, corroded rotor arm back in it runs smoothly. Having looked closely at the Bremi / Beru unit, there are clear signs of arcing onto the rotor arm drive bracket so I think there must be a manufacturing fault that means there...

    New record?

Surely this must be some sort of record. I replaced distributor cap and rotor arm on my R129 300SL24 and the rotor arm lasted a total of 18 minutes (at idle!). Admittedly they weren't Bosch or MB parts as I couldn't get any in the time frame I had so ended up with Bremi from GSF but even so...

    George Fraser

My experience of George himself working on my car was far from ideal! See my previous posts regarding problems I had with what should have been a very simple gearbox oil / filter change for details... Suffice to say I won't be going back... It would also appear that as he has "joined...

Lucky Motors SE1 - any experiences?

Thanks for the update. I had my SL MOT'd at Millenium and they seemed pretty good but would prefer a specialist to look over it at the next service after having had it done last time by George Fraser (see other messages for the problems I had). Not sure I trust any of the work done so want it...

Lucky Motors SE1 - any experiences?

No-one used them? I don't really fancy being a pioneer after my previous experiences with a supposedly reputable indie!

Lucky Motors SE1 - any experiences?

I've just moved to live near Lucky Motors and there is always an interested selection of cars parked outside (there's also a 911 specialist next door). As they're so close I was wondering if anyone had any experience / recommendation / complaints about them. Cheers JohnE

    MOT in London

Sorry this is a bit late but for future reference, as you're in SE London, I can highly recommend Millenium City Garage on Great Suffolk Street. Excellent service, very helpful all round and seem to have a pretty good knowledge of the foibles of older cars! Cheers JohnE

    R129 Suspension

There are often kits on Ebay such as item 130247355059. Eibach are supposedly a good make but other than seeing these I can't offer any other recommendations. Cheers JohnE

Air Con in S E London

Unfortunately they don't cover anywhere in the congestion charging zone (I'm just inside  ) Thanks for the tip though.

Air Con in S E London

Don't suppose you've had the work done and now have any recommendations? I need my SL looked at... In / around SE1 would be ideal Cheers John

    SL300-24 Auto box issue

In my opinion it does "feel" like a selector issue rather than an internal issue. When the selector is pushed from D to 4 you can fell the detent which is more pronounced than say selecting D from N or 3 from 4. When trying to select 2 from 3 it feels like the selector is hitting a stop rather...

    SL300-24 Auto box issue

Its not just that I can't select it when slowing, I can't select it when stationary (engine running)! Any ideas what would make the lockout lever jam?

    SL300-24 Auto box issue

I'm pretty sure its a 5 speed (listed as an option (425) on the original invoice at £576.79!!!). The car is a 92...

    SL300-24 Auto box issue

No, it drives perfectly well (and selects 1st gear and 2nd gear when in the Drive position) I just can't select it using the manual selection with the stick! Its like there's a detent / mechanism to prevent selection at speed (a bit like the systems used to prevent reverse engagement on a...

    George Fraser, Wembley.

Further nails for the coffin It appears that the less than satisfactory reports I'd read here and on another forum came out a little too late for me! I'd done some research to find a good independent (having read fairly terrible things about London based dealers) and the good reports I'd read...
