    C63 CEL Solved

Evening all, I thought I'd make my first post in many years a positive one. I took delivery of a new C63 at the end of June and within 50 miles the CEL came on. I called Mercedes roadside assistance and given that there were no evident side affects their advice was to book it into a dealer...

    McLaren result to be investigated

I've had some long heated debates with various members of this forum before regarding Schumacher's talents - John included! However, regarding my eariler post and skills and talents that are required away from the racetrack - Schumacher was a master (along with some other greats) at that...

    McLaren result to be investigated

You could be right there, let's hope so for the sake of Button. He's made some public and unfortunate decisions in the last few years, it'd be good to see him finally reap some results for his troubles. Jon

    McLaren result to be investigated

Once possible/probably cause for Ferrari's lack of pace at Monaco could be their long wheelbase. This years car is a departure from the norm in that it has a relatively long wheelbase (the longest in the paddock). Gary Anderson's views suggest this gives them a good aero base to work with but...

    McLaren result to be investigated

Racing drivers at all levels require more skills than just purely driving. One thing I've learnt from my years at the bottom rung of the racing driver ladder is that 50% of a driver's skill is about what they do in the days before the race. When comparing racing drivers, we must think about...

    Screeching rear demister

Misting up of the windows on the outside when running air con in hot and humid countries is not uncommon. I had a friend who lived in Dubai, and he said that it used to happen very frequently. I've actually had it happen a number of times to the bottom four inches of the windscreen here in...

    Brake Hold Function

I know what you mean, but it's OK because you're generally doing up to maybe 15 mph and you can soon tell whether the car's slowing down enough or not and if not you apply a little brake. Also, not related to Distronic - mine doesn't have that. :(

    Brake Hold Function

If you have the brake hold, you might also have the 'queue of traffic stop start thingy'. (That's not the technical name). On mine, using the cruise control/speed limit switch while in 'hold' I can set it so that to pull away I just press the accelerator and to then slow down again I only...

    Tools for documenting business processes

Sharepoint is hard to qualify but from what I understand it designed to allow teams of people to share information. First off it's an adequate document storage system - it's not brilliant, doesn't do version controlling (not in 2003 anyway, but I think 2007/MOSS does) and doesn't do direct...

    Tools for documenting business processes

Computer Associates do a product called Process Modeller for modelling IT oriented business processes. http://www3.ca.com/smb/product.aspx?id=5748&culture=en-us Might be a bit pricey for what you're after, but maybe work a looksee and might give you some ideas of what you're looking for...

does the m3 give you the red mist or is it just me?

Or at best wince when you see the bill for the four replacement tyres, large quantity of petrol used and the brake pad wear!

does the m3 give you the red mist or is it just me?

Definately agree with that. It is a fantastic engine to drive; it revs freely up to around 8000rpm and pulls right to the top. They're a little low on low-down torque so require some stirring of the gearbox to get the most out of them - hence why they suit the SMG system so well...

does the m3 give you the red mist or is it just me?

How childish is this?! I had an M3 before the SL and I do still miss the M3 to a certain extent. They're very different cars, they don't produce the power and torque of a big blown V8 but they make up for it in tightness and handling, especially the CSL. The E55 (and my SL55) make great m-way...

Done for speeding by mobile camera

It would be fascinating to see what would happen to public opinion if the fines from speed cameras were eliminated and replaced with points only penalties. This would remove the 'greed camera' philosophy and would allow the authorities to really demonstrate to us that they were safety devices...
