Hi, Anesh. I had this problem too and it proved to be that the deadlock had ceased to operate. The boot was opened by removing the rear seat and getting the mechanic to go in and free the deadlock, which I have since dispensed with. I believe that some cars do not have the deadlock fitted...

Can anyone advise me how to connect a modern stereo unit in place of the Becker unit (with Bose amplifiers and speakers) in my S-Class 500, circa 1993?
