    W124 sunroof repair

OK, looks like OEM pads are the way to go. Sad... would have been nice to save a few quid. Thanks for the replies, everybody.

    W124 sunroof repair

I have BTDT myself very recently. They are pricey yes but it's best to buy all new MB felt pads when you have it all apart. Lube with Gleitpaste & put back together for 20+ years more trouble free service. My top tip is use some Loctite precision max superglue to glue the new felt pads in...

    W124 sunroof repair

A friend bought one of these kits off ebay although possibly not this supplier. The quality was so bad he just junked it. I would be tempted to go with original felt pads but others may have had success with these kits. Well that doesn't sound too inspiring!

    W124 sunroof repair

I have a "sticky" sunroof (it moves very reluctantly) and finally bit the bullet and removed the sunroof liner & lid, side rail guides, water shield and the arms that slide/lift the sunroof, and given it all a good clean with isopropyl alcohol (some previous owner had used normal grease and it...

Roof antenna for E320 Coupe (C124)

To answer my own question: yes, there is room to install an antenna between the rear interior light and the sunroof case, and here's the proof: but it's a BIG job, at least it seems to be so if you've never removed the headliner before. I could probably get it down in a few hours now that I...

Removing headliner from sliding sunroof ('93 W124 coupe)

Thanks for the reply. Yes, you really do just have to yank it down. Open the sunroof 6", and sitting on one of the seats place your hands about 5" apart, wrap your fingers up and over and give it a sharp tug downwards and the middle two clips should unclip. Move your hand outwards a bit, so...

Removing headliner from sliding sunroof ('93 W124 coupe)

I'm attempting to remove the headliner from the underside of the sunroof. So far, I've found two guides: but for the life of me I can't see how the clips come undone. The liner is stiff steel; even if I pull down hard on the front edge as instructed, nothing happens. I've tried putting a...

'93 320CE coupe (C124): getting access to rear roof under headliner

I'd like to have a peak at the underside of the roof just in front of the rear windshield; is it possible to gain access to this area without having to entirely remove the headliner? ie, remove the trim from the rear pillars, and somehow just "peel" the headliner back a bit from the rear?

Roof antenna for E320 Coupe (C124)

I imagine wind noise would be more of a problem if the antenna were mounted at the front of the roof. A lot of cars have bee stings mounted at the rear, so I'm reasonably optimistic about installing it there IF there's the space for it. But so far I've yet to see any photos of the rear of the...

Roof antenna for E320 Coupe (C124)

I'd really like to use this (expensive) antenna I already have here if possible. Plus, I've heard the stick on glass ones aren't very good, and I absolutely HATE drop-outs when listening to the radio!

Roof antenna for E320 Coupe (C124)

Ah, interesting. Is it right at the rear of the roof, and located in the center? Any chance of a photo?

Roof antenna for E320 Coupe (C124)

Thanks for the photos. The saloon's roof is "longer" than the coupe's though, so there's probably considerably less space.

Roof antenna for E320 Coupe (C124)

Thanks for the reply. A previous owner has filled in the hole in the rear wing where the standard antenna was mounted, in favour of a rear windscreen antenna. It's crap (even for just FM) and I have a decent (Hirschmann) bee sting antenna handy, so I'd like to use that. Presumably you don't...
