Not posted on here for ages as sold Mercs some years back, over the years we had about 6 of them. Now I am after some advice regarding mates C200 which he says is making a droning noise at certain speeds/load, I thought it must be bloody loud as he is as deaf as a post, so off we go for a spin...

Pauk Thanks for the reply,the handbrake works but as soon as you release the pedal it comes of on its own as the ratchet does not hold it, the reason is somehow the ratchet is being told to release and i havent a clue what it it! Im beginning to think its the actual mechanism at fault Lynall

Right ive looked at my wifes handbrake and as its a std w203 it has the black ratchet, and works fine, i cant suss out the sport one at all, i think there may be some sort of link rod down to the plastic ratchet but cant be 100 precent. Any ideas? Someone els must have had this problem? Lynall

Bit of googling and i have unplugged the drivers seat control module, so far two nights its holding over 12.55 volts so will leave in unplugged for another week or so before splicing an ign controlled relay into the power supply. Lynall

Well i spoke to soon ref the reliability went to go out car unlocked but wont turn over, no click no nothing, try the easy stuff first fob batteries, no luck, measure battery voltage 5.8v whoops! So something is pulling the power down over night, battery now on charge hopefully poor thing is...

I think the oil has to be at 80 degc for the correct oil level check so it figures thats pretty damn hot! Lynall

Fake would work in my old 2001 E430 but not in the wifes 2001 W203. Common system same as in Vws and many other makes, its quite frankly rubbish, tom tom is far superior as you will soon discover! Lynall

Long time no post, as car has been pretty damn good. Anyway noticed brake flexis getting past their best, order and fit four new ones all easy to do, bleed them up also easy, road test first press long travel second press back to normal. So rebleed still the same, wife reckons they are okay...

Wifes car was making strange noises, almost a zizzing noise bit like cam chain well worn, accessory belt off, noise went, traced it to the t:thumb:p idler pulley above the water pump, new pulley fitted 16 pounds fixed. might be useful info for someone? Lynall

No assuming you mean the valve on the nearside inner wing it has always ticked. Its different to that and defo seems to be from the motor. Lynall
