Hi Andy That was the price quoted from the MB dealership at Gatwick. Would love the number of the place that quoted you £70-80 if you still have it. Looking on ebay, but only found one which was for all the locks and that was £160 + Del, so no real financial advantage. :(

If I replace my old, broken, ceased boot lock for another, second hand one. Will it still work on the key fob and internal switch system even though it will fundamentally be a different key? Been quoted £159 + VAT for one that's compatible to my door locks based on the chassis number but...

Mine has just been drilled out as mechanism would not open....... Not fussed that it will need a seperate key and am hoping it will still open on the key fob or internal switch. Either way, don't think I can warrant £159 + VAT for a new boot lock on a £2K max valued car!!!!

Well half a can of WD40 and 40 min later.....still can't get into the boot!!!! Have checked fuses for boot release.....all OK Strange why all of a sudden the internal and key fob release systems fail isn't it? Starting to think boot lock is different from doors!!! Any other...

Been having a few probs recently with the car alarm system on a 98 W202 sport where indicators flashed continuously. Had it fixed by getting a guy from my local mechanics to by-pass the alarm system but still allow all other electrical functions like central locking to work. Anyhow, today...

So apart from an expensive trip to the stealerships.....who could I expect to have a STAR machine? Is it a MB thing or is it generic to any manufacturers vehicles that a general mechanics might have? How much is it roughly to have it tested at a MB centre?
