Well hours of searching have yielded a surprise. The compressor is a clutchless unit ! Without that nugget I'd have been investigating why the clutch was jammed. I didn't come across one internet repair video that suggested the Merc has a clutchless compressor.

I used to have WIS on my laptop that covered our old W168, but it didn't cover our replacement W169.

I need the aircon wiring diagram please, to find out why the aircon isn't blowing cold. I've yet to go underneath to see if the compressor clutch is engaging, but if it doesn't it would be good to know where to check for volts. I've spent hours on the internet without success. Thanks Michael
