    Laying up a CLK

https://photos.app.goo.gl/6ytMk5rJwPPvsPHh6 Hi. Too late for anything to happen to it now so it will have to wait until I get back. It's a low mileage, (56 500ish), 2 owner car. Runs really well and been used mainly for long, careful rins while I've had it. I've been in a hurry so it's rarely...

    Laying up a CLK

Hi and thanks for all of the replies. The trickle charger won't be possible so I'll be coming back to a flat battery I guess. I'll clean/dry the car and pump up the tyres and then that will have to be that. I've got a cotton dust sheet to cover it and I'll leave the windows slightly open It...

    Laying up a CLK

I'm shortly off to sea for the next 4 months. I've tried to sell my CLK, (only over the past 2 weeks,) but had no interest, at even £1650. So, looks as if I'm going to have to put it into storage for the next 4 months. It is a custom built building, looks nice and dry and airy but there is no...

    Dash board display glitch.

My CLK 320, 209, has been trouble free ever since I had the crank sensor replaced some time ago. However, I went over to it last night to find the instrument display has gone haywire. The dashboard lights would come on/go off, the centre info display appeared either monochrome without any text...

Ticking time bomb balance shaft M272

Oops, didn't mean to be alarmist there. It's something that isn't even marque specific, let alone model. I had one go on an old Citroen CX. I had read about it during my researches so wasn't too surprised by it. I've no idea if it's high mileage, age or a combination of the two which causes...

Ticking time bomb balance shaft M272

Welcom to the CLK club! I bought a low mileage 02 320 back in March and am pleased with it so far. I did have the dreaded crank position sensor go but at least it got me to where I was going. The engine is nice and smooth and seems to have plenty of grunt if required, which isn't often in my...

Do you drive a black Mercedes?

Maybe black AMGs bring out the worst in some people. I was driving through Stubbington towards the A27 on Thursday, 13th June, around 2030. 2 cars in front of me, a black Merc behind. Due to the car at the front we are all doing around 30/35mph. which, considering the area, was pretty sensible...

    First snag.

It sits at, or one notch above 80. It'll be getting done up at PCS so I'll see what they say up there. I said that it was a miserable drive up in the rain, but at least it made a nice change, (for me,) to be in a car with wipers that did a good job and didn't drive me nuts with the noise they...

    First snag.

Up and back, car perfect. That's more like it. Pretty miserable drive up in the pouring rain though but a nice drive back on Sunday. Next planned trip in 3 or 4 weeks time. Plugs, coolant and brake fluid are all due a change based on time. I could bite the bullet and do them all in one hit but...

    Servicing at Mercedes or Halfords?

I used to give my old oil to a pal who was quite happy to put it in his Metro. Mind you, I was changing the oil every 500 miles. No, I'm not missing a zero, five hundred. It was a Renault 4CV without an oil filter. I think that the official oil change period was every 1500km. LG.

    First snag.

Un quatre chevaux, but an early British one, hence the "760" title. 1949, putting out 17hp, (hopefully!) Full marks to your friend doing 2000 mile trips in one, but maybe he has a later, 21hp version. Or maybe even a "sport", with a heady output up in the 40s. On slightly more powerful things...

    First snag.

OK, anxious drive coming up tomorrow. I have to limp the car up to PCS, about 18 miles. Who knows how many "goes" it might take me. I'm just hoping that it doesn't cut out on some really busy round-a-bout. I don't have to be there until 1600 but I'll be leaving just after dinner, just in case...

    First snag.

Car 2, O'Reilly 0. OK, had another go. The only thing I could see that looked like it might, MIGHT have been the CPS was so buried I couldn't even get my small hands in to do anything with it, let alone get a socket on it. And even if I had, I'm sure that I would have ended up dropping the...
