    Thinking of a block heater...

Hi y'all I know it's technically still summer, but I'm already looking ahead to a winter full of freezing cold 5am starts. It's not nice. My car is a 2004 E320 CDI; the straight-six version, and it takes quite a while to get warm on a cold morning. The aux heater does start producing...

    W211 220 CDI Service Cost

I was quoted about £600 for a B service by Canary Wharf. Went over to Boulougne and paid €300 for the same thing at Groupe Gorrias. I guess they'll charge a lot less for doing the brakes as well. Even including the drive down to Dover and the ferry ticket (£25 return with Speed Ferries)...

Just been "quoted" for B Service - pleasant surprise?

As an update, took the car along to the Dealer today and asked for another quote. This time it came out at £580!!! Bit of difference from £270. When asked, the chap was unable to understand how I'd been given that quotation. Ho hum. Guess I'm off to France then - been quoted €400 for...

Just been "quoted" for B Service - pleasant surprise?

Interesting stuff! I didn't ask EXACTLY what that quote included, but on the back of these answers I shall speak to them again on Monday and be a bit more probing. As an aside, it "amused" me that it took longer and more effort to get a quote from Canary Wharf than it did from the chap in...

Just been "quoted" for B Service - pleasant surprise?

Hi all, Just rang my local Dealer (Canary Wharf) for a quote on a B Service for my E320 diesel. The chap quoted me "around £270", subject to any extra bits needing doing. This struck me as being, if not actually cheap, then at least not as expensive as I anticipated. I had been planning...

    W211 Wing Mirror damage

Hi all, I've managed to clip the wing mirror of a parked car. :( Pleasingly, no damage was done to the other car. Less pleasingly, the transparent "indicator" cover on mine is broken. All other bits work, eg: electric adjust, electric folding, indicator leds - although I can't really...

    W211 Headlight adjustment

It's actually quite easy - if your arms are long, thin and have a couple of extra joints! But seriously, I got my local Dealer to show me once, and I've done it ever since. Takes about two minutes total now. Pop the bonnet, reach in to the light fitting. There is a large plastic screw...

    Service A cost

Aka$h, which dealer are you going to in France, and have you had previous servicing done abroad? I'm looking at doing this myself soon, and have heard good things about Groupe Gorrias. Let us know how you get on, please?!? This could be the way forward...

    W211 "Cigar Lighter" Fuse

Thanks Guys. I'm feeling brave so I'll head out and start prising bits of the side of the dash!!!! :D

    W211 "Cigar Lighter" Fuse

Hi It's a bit embarrasing really, but I need help to locate and change a fuse :o ! The front "cigar lighter" fuse popped a few days ago when an adaptor I was inserting fell apart. Big spark. Then nothing. The adaptor is now okay, and I know it's the cigar lighter that's blown by checking...

    Car Audio Shop in London

I've made a couple of successful purchases from: http://caraudiosecurity.com/ After my first order I realised that they were based in Tottenham Court Road, so I just went there and collected my second order. Not sure now, but then (1 year ago) they were the cheapest people I could find...

    A class mats

Try: http://www.carmats247.co.uk/ I just got a set of their Deluxe mats which I'm very satisfied with, and they were quite a bit cheaper than the official ones. You can even choose some funky colours!

Service sequence for W211 E320 CDi (and more)

Interesting! I have the CD changer, but not COMAND - just the standard Audio 20. I'll have to burn an MP3 CD and see if it works. Would be rather fab if it did! Also, let's not forget the nanopaint, which could be rather good if it's as revolutionary as it's cracked up to be. Nick

Service sequence for W211 E320 CDi (and more)

If the electric folding mirrors have been modified, perhaps the modifications required the removal of the puddle lights? Bigger motors, different gears = less space for ancileries maybe? I can personally see more use for SBS Hold than Stop. Stop could only be used in fairly specific traffic...

Service sequence for W211 E320 CDi (and more)

As far as making the lastest E320 diesel engine less efficient, wasn't that just a result of having to become EU4 compliant? I don't think it was a deliberate policy by MB to screw things up. I would agree with John that adding the nano-paint should be a major step forward. Also, didn't...
