Antenna amplifier module. Sodding thing has the receiver and digitizer for the RF remote built in to it, passes digital signal to SAM module that decodes it and checks with ECU if it can unlock. Just been through the same pain on my SLK.

2 different bluetooth interfaces 1 older one and one new 'v-tech' with Torque running on android. Yes the codes do clear but come back immediately the car is started but no engine management light on dash and car runs very well.
