thanks for all your help....however....just binned the engine and bought a second hand one.....could not get the timing to line up...nightmare!! So now put a new unit in and running sweet as a nut :)

engine still in the car....whats left of it lol...will get some photos tomorrow and post them up

yeh all done....tensioner in aswell...rotate engine and timing mark in the right exhaust is not dead centre in the hole it is still visible but is not central. my question is, is that ok?if i rotate engine 5 degrees less then the mark is centralised...is 5 degrees to much to be out?

Wondering if any of you can help? I have a 2008 viano 3.5 petrol. It developed the issue where it couldnt read the cam sensors on the right bank. Balance shaft i hear you say...well stripped the engine down to a point of checking...balance shaft and vvt cogs seem ok...no visible wear....replaced...

nope....but i have much more of a concern now with the dreaded m272 timing issue ;)

thanks mb petroleum, done that now and all 4 line up, even removed the front cam covers to check the timing marks and they all line up too...was checking for stretched timing chain....they are fine too....what now??? ;)

thanks for the input so far, am getting codes p0060 and code p0271 now . was getting a misfire on cylinder 4 and 6. changed the injectors...so that it doesnt misfire now but still cuts out when engine is warm....engine number is too new for the balance shaft issues 272978 30 850996....anybody...

thanks for that, petrol doesn't have a boost issue...should have mentioned...is petrol 3.5 m272 engine...

Hi, wondering if anyone can help me please? I have a Viano 3.5 Ambiente 2008. It has a vibration between 52 and 60 miles an hour. It doesn't vary with engine revs or gear change so think it is a drivetrain issue. To date I have changed...wheels and tyres...including balancing and changing twice...
