Wanted; headlamp buckets '79 350 sl

Aha! Just found a link to Hadrians Panels who have both wings available, and joy of joys, it seems you're right and the so called "buckets" are an integral part of the wing structure...happy days! Thanks also for the advice re SL shop, tried their site before but it turns out better off calling...

SL meets/Autojumble; any coming up soon?

Thanks Druk. Well, the list is comprehensive, but in the near future I will be needing 2 front wings, 2 headlamp "buckets", rear offside bumper chrome, a windscreen green tint, a complete set of lenses for all the lights both o/s and n/s, and possibly 2 new door locks with key, as the single key...

'79 350SL V8; Which fuses in which holders?

Thanks for that Druk, much appreciated. I have a wiring diagram in a haynes manual and the SL Shop are emailing me detailed instructions as to which fuses to use where. When I've got them installed, I will post a photo to assist anyone else with this problem. Cheers!

SL meets/Autojumble; any coming up soon?

Hi folks, just wondering if there is any such thing as an autojumble type thing happening any time soon? My '79 350SL restoration project means I need more parts than an out of work actor and sourcing some of them is proving to be a bit difficult to say the least. :( Any advice much...

The tale of the shrunken "Soft" Top....

Thats very interesting. Seems heating up coupled with a bit of judicious elbow grease or indeed "cpr" might do the trick then. I shall have a go and let you know how I get on.... Thanks very much for your help. Paul

'79 350sl v8; which fuses in which holders?

Hello again, more brain picking I'm afraid. Never owned one before but now my partner and I have a 1979 350SL undergoing slow restoration, not for profit, but just because my Uncle and her Dad had 350SL's when they were new, and we've both lusted after one ever since. Work done so far includes...

The tale of the shrunken "Soft" Top....

Thanks Druk . I have tried the method you describe, but have been wary of damaging the hood by "forcing" it. I was wondering if there might be some sort of cream or fluid perhaps which might be used to soften the fabric which is immaculate but dry and "stiff", sort of like a bone dry canvas tent...

The tale of the shrunken "Soft" Top....

Hello folks, Well, I'm yet another newbie to the site and looking to pick the brains of anyone who can help! I've recently acquired a '79 350SL V8 auto. It has what looks like a fairly unused soft top in a dark blue cloth and in very clean condition with a clear and crack free pane of clear...
