    Help!!! R129 Hardtop won't lock down 😭

Not sure what the issue may be (have also not had the hard top on for a few years) but if you move the red roof button in the other direction and then try again does it engage fully? I seem to remember i have had to do this once or twice?

    Anyone bought from this website

You say not cheap but cheaper than buying MB original parts, I am looking at some suspension parts and they are half the price, says high quality reproduction, I wonder if I would be better off buying those or some lemforder or febi bilstein suspension components? I guess it is worth giving it a try

    R129 maintenance - done

I have had it for 16 years and am planning on keeping it for another 16 years at least :-). It does not make financial sense but it has become a hobby and it is cheaper per year than having a gym membership or having a PL season ticket. I know I have a few big ticket items on the list and if I...

    R129 maintenance - done

Spot on, took the wheel off and ball joint is split on the NSF, Currently reading up on the various threads on this board how to replace lower arms but also springs (which look nasty) and shocks. The ARB is also very rusty, took it off a few years ago and spent ages trying to remove rust etc...

    R129 maintenance - done

Today I did what MB calls a B service, I also decided to take apart the cabin filter and air filter boxes and gave them a good clean and removed 5yrs worth of muck and gave it a quick hoover, degreased the engine bay (spend 15 mins on it so not super job) and put it back together I also...

This weekends project if if stops raining

4 hours later and it is in, only had to get the axle grinder out for 2x bolts using a ramp it was a pia job to do, hardly and room to manoeuvre putting it back together was fun as well as I knew the graphite ring had to go in a particular way but WIS does not explain which way it is, my...

R129 Rear Brake Caliper, 1 piston fine, other piston does not move

You are correct, I am also not sure how you could see it by looking at the disc but I am no expert and when I finally tested the pistons they were indeed stuck on 1 side (inner one) on both NSR and OSR caliper. There is a video I took when I tested the piston , I cannot remember if this was NSR...

R129 Rear Brake Caliper, 1 piston fine, other piston does not move

brake fluid flush done. My Sealy brake bleeding system came in handy. All done. Fluid looked pretty clear and no air bubbles to speak of present. Did a before and after brake test and I cannot notice the difference but good to have got it done. It was 1 year overdue.

    New pads?

I use this handy colour coded tool. Red is replacement time

    New pads?

quite a difference in pad thickness, on mine they are 10mm new and 1.5mm is the bare minimum, but yours are 20.6mm! what is the min thickness on those?

R129 Rear Brake Caliper, 1 piston fine, other piston does not move

Post #5 of My post of 2020 seems to suggest wear pattern of disc suggests pistons not working correctly. But even pad wear indicates may have been okay. I will keep an eye on it and have the callipers refurbed once summer is over. At least for now seems to be okay again.

R129 Rear Brake Caliper, 1 piston fine, other piston does not move

Nope but I am flushing brake fluid tomorrow (good tip!). The pads were equally worn. Both about 8mm in thickness which is odd but only 1 piston was working in each calliper.

R129 Rear Brake Caliper, 1 piston fine, other piston does not move

Both rear calipers had 1working and 1 stuck piston each As per #5, I fixed the issue by using a clamp on the good piston and then pressed the brake and the stuck piston just popped out, I repeated this process 3 or 4 times and did a bit of rust and gunk clearing, thanks for the tip exvolvoman...
