Do they tend to have noisy oil pumps?

Hey All, I wondered if you'd be able to help me shed some light on this. I've owned my CLS55AMG for the last 2 years and it's always ran faultlessly. It has however always had this weird whining/grinding noise coming from the underside of the car towards the rear of the engine. It happens...

Okay... So the car got dropped off with Olly at Prestige Car Service this morning. Very nice chaps and they were even kind enough to give me a lift to the nearest station. Hopefully we'll have some news re the extent of the problem later this week. I'll keep you updated.

It was pretty thick and soupy actually :-) I have sent it off for diagnosis so it'll hopefully come back with news by early next week.

Ahh, that's OK. Sh*T does unfortunately happen from time to time. Hopefully we'll be able to find what's actually wrong with it. That'll help more people in the future to diagnose the issues.

Okay chaps, Latest update - it's booked in for a gearbox refurb with Olly @ Prestige Performance next week. I'll keep you updated with the verdict and maybe Olly can shed more light on the damage that's been caused to the box. Cheers

I'm not concerned that it was made in China. I'm more interested as to whether anybody actually has/used one or not. Yes, things are made to a cost but also have significant margin put upon them once they have a 'name' on them. Whether that be Bosch or Mercedes-Benz. It's not unknown for...

Howdy, Anybody got (or had) any experience with these Chinese SIP's? I need one for my CLS as it's failed (swapped the relay, no joy) They're cheap - but question is whether they'll fail again in another year or so? :crazy...

They were cleared at MB after it was recovered. Since then it's driven about 6-7 miles back to the house. No engine check light. It's shifting cleanly through the gears. Still think it's worth taking it back for another scan and clear? (£49) Cheers Chris

Right - So... I put it all back together, filled it with oil, flushed the torque converter and cooler etc. Does it drive, yep. Is it fixed? Well, i'm not sure. It doesn't pull as purposefully as it should in the upper gears and i'm now pretty sure that there is either a problem with the clutch...

Apparently (according to MB) it's backwards compatible with the .6 box too.

236.10 is the original spec for the box but has since been superseded by 236.14 which is claimed by mercedes to be backwards compatible. 236.14 is all MB store these days. 236.14 is also used in the 7 speed boxes i'm told.

Howdy, All i'm waiting for now is the dipstick and those aforementioned micro transmission filters. The conductor plate, bushing, filter and seal kit are all sitting here. The oil also arrived from Eurocarparts who sent me 14 litres of crappy febibilstein oil when I ordered genuine mercedes...

Has it thrown a fault code? Is it juddering all the time or just when it's changing? Does it change smoothly otherwise?
