Hi having the same issue. The stalling whilst driving is particularly worrying. I have sent my EIS to autotronics in Leicester with both keys. They could not replicate the fault on the bench (problem with it being intermittent) but they have cloned a new EIS which they will send back to test in...

286 HO 722.9 062504 | Manual Transmission | Transmission (Mechanics) Had a fluid and filter change as a PM measure - gearbox all good. Back to the intermittent stall - probably fueling issue, so going through the low cost steps first.

Can a transmission fault cause stalling? Been getting random stalls for a while and just now noticed it happens during shifting. Pulled up to a junction and when auto downshift was happening it seemed to select a high gear so the engine stalled. Restarted and it would hardly pull away, so...

FORTE do a DPF cleaner. Not sure how effective it is but might be worth a shot. Considering it myself

Happened 3 more times. Each time all dash lights, comfort systems remained operational. 2 of the 3 times at low speed, decelerating and engine not at full temp, so stopped and restarted and off I go. This evening at 50mph downhill in a straight line, but recovered whilst still moving, so carried...

Right this is a proper windup. The car was returned to me after a day of testing the basic electrical systems. Scanned again, no codes (STAR scanned). A live feed to the fuse/ecu box was slightly loose so tightened... This time drove the car from cold 35mtrs or so before the engine just cut out...

Yes might replace it with a C63 :) WRT Command system - did have a look but V expensive. Will probably do the battery thing. Not an urgent issue, just one of a few niggles

Just found out previous owner had removed the command system and replaced with standard radio set up. Sooooo think I have to hook up STAR and restore the date/time function. Bit annoying.

Went to set my clock and followed instructions in manual only to discover that I apparently do not have a Time/Date sub-menu. It does not have the command system, so not waiting for a GPS sync. What to do?? Any thoughts most welcome

In no way and expert but did you experience any serious overheating during the coolant loss phase? Suggest you take it to another garage to have the cylinder head checked. Cracking or warping could explain the gasket seating issue. You do need independent eyes on this issue. WRT who is culpable...

Thank you @BlackC55 and @m80 - literally everything shuts off, no lights, no pump running sound (albeit I was not listening out for it as I was trying to get it to stop safely) - absolute shutdown. The car is in with Auto Barn near Stockbridge at the moment - who are equally puzzled.I drove it...

MB dealership says no recall for my vehicle. They did offer to run a diagnostic for only £168......FFS!!
