Found some data with performance info on a tuners site, showing a speed de-restricted E55 AMG chipped to 380bhp giving Vmax 280 kph/173mph. The E55 has the CL600 gearbox and in 5th it gives approx 31.3mph/1000rpm. Which means I don't have to burn in a ditch to find out what it'll do at 3000 rpm...

Hadn't thought of that, prob because there's heavy flaking along about a 2" section. The rim ain't broke exactly, so not worried about losing the seal, but looking a bit sad. Not as sad as my bank account tho' if the prices on another thread are typical - £1200 for a pair of 18" amg's...

Dealer service told me the E320 straight six change point was higher when cold to speed warmup and spare the cat. But the E55 doesn't hang in the lower cogs on warm up, swapping is early & leisurely. Plus, it returns near identical mpg to the 320, at 23 - 25 overall. OK the vehicle's similar...
