Cheers guys for the pointers. I know with my old E300 the metal was crap and rusted out all over - i think an era of using low grade crap polish metal? Does the ML suffer this same fate or did they change it to quality metal for these cars?

Chaps I had a E300TD a little while ago and had bad luck with it. Ive since been driving an Audi A3 2.0 tdi but I lust for another Mercedes! Im interested in the ML270cdi. Is it nice to live with? I mainly drive at 70mph commuting.. Im looking at the 5-6k mark early 2000's / sub 100k miles...

Thanks Dieselman for eventually giving your opinion. I had indeed opened the bonnet and everything looks as it should.. I will first check the boost hoses for splits/popped off etc. Im glad the concensus is that the turbo 'should' be ok as that was my main concern. Il let you know how I get on!

Hey guys just got home from work and after 10 mins driving (so the car was warm) i stuck my foot down to take over a truck and whilst overtaking i heard a metallic 'crack' and then i lost power... no smoke and no further problems? no overheating just loss of power.. i no longer get the whoosh...

I think the new standard A class is a nice car.. This AMG version will only be better!

Chaps When I first start the car, the engine seems to struggle to fire up and tick over / It sounds horrible etc But after about 5 seconds, it seems to have coughed it through and then runs fine? What could it be? The previous owner said it just needs a service and nes glow plugs? Cheers

So I attacked the front drivers side arch... I first grinded out all the rust. Using POR15 products I cleaned, prepped and painted. Which looked like this I bought a set of these off ebay painted them up and fitted. They look 'ok'....Better than before....a tenth the cost at getting them...
