    CHAV PLATES. Very Amusing!

This is an image that a) always makes me smile and b) always reminds me of Brighton for some reason http://i822.photobucket.com/albums/zz146/caspar04/chav.jpg

Why do people say things with no knowledge whatsoever?

I'm just grateful my car has any lights at all most of the time :)

Thinking to buy an old merc

And talking of really old, my 45 yr old 230s just had a full going over for work needed for it's MOT. Given it's stood still for three years and is uber geriatric in the first place, I thought it was almost in the "shed" category for MOT costs. What did it need? Discs n pads at the front. That's...

    New on the board.

Phew, thought it was just me.... I was really worried that I'd lost the plot and there was an entire range of MB I'd never heard of. It's a relief to discover I'm still sane :bannana: ish

    Financial Suicide....

I'm learning a lot on here, thanks guys - Derek especially. I was sorely tempted by the 420SEC even though I was arguing against it (or talking myself out of it). It went for just over £1k and what put me off was the 2 yrs standing in the damp n cold outside. The seats and windows electrics had...

    Financial Suicide....

and from the sublime to the ridiculous...1989 MERCEDES 420 SEC AUTO BLACK on eBay (end time 11-Jan-10 20:27:14 GMT) That was someone's dream car once until it went wrong and they couldn't afford to fix it. For the same reason, I'd love a Turbo R but I'd need a small padded room and funny pills...

Switzerland millionaire hit by record speed fine

I agree with ***, proportional taxation. I sort of like that idea because it wouldn't need to be means tested. Your honour, the accused in a .......Ferrari Testarossa? 100mph in a 30 zone? Yeah, £250,000 fine or take the car, chose! Your honour, the accused in a ..........Reliant Robin in...

    Newbie Northern Ireland

Welcome from another relative newbie, and good choice of car. The spontaneous descions are always the best ones!! Sounds like a rough journey but you must have known the Mercedes would keep you safe and got you home, even with rwd :)

Hi im looking for some advice can you help?

This made seem like an odd suggestion but what about the antique dealers favorite? The Volvo 940 - you could get an excellent one below your budget and they are pretty indestructible. I owned an L reg as a spare car for 3 years and gave to a friend who sent it to his family in Tanzania. That was...

Pics of restoration project - be nice, don't laugh!

Exactly - living in Brighton we get to see the monthly cruise and some of the cars run ultra-ultra low profile tyres. Basically, they take the tyres off I think and paint the edge of the rims black. The ride must be boneshakingly awful to say nothing of the fact that their top speed is then down...

I didn't dare take any pics, she was soooo upset :( Actually, the car is in the background of one of the pics, you can see a dent on the bonnet, just. In one of the other pics, you can see the warning cones outside the railings in case anyone else has a go :)
