I'm going to be a Millionaire

We must be related - Elena emailed me with a similar message a few days ago! Hello, my long, lost cousin!

    Home Insurance 27% increase

LV increased the cost of my house insurance when the renewal was due in January. Compare the Market found me a policy with better cover through Churchill for less than last year's renewal. LV will probably lose my car insurance in September.

    Jay walking

I nearly wiped out a jogger a fortnight ago. He was wearing headphones and running in the same direction I was driving. He just ran across the road in front of me without looking. He seemed somewhat surprised when I stopped about two feet from him. I have now installed a dashcam to protect me in...

Has Anyone Switched to Windows 11 Yet?

I have had to "upgrade" my Datacolor Spyder monitor calibration gadget (i.e., buy a new) as my old one is not supported on Windows 11. Not a big deal as the old one was ancient and the plastics were beginning to rot and become sticky.

Has Anyone Switched to Windows 11 Yet?

I've installed Windows 11 on a "spare" laptop. It seems OK, but I'm just tinkering when I have time, not using it in anger. The changes seem mostly cosmetic, TBH (perhaps I'm missing something?).

Even more new jokes... (No UK Politics please)

My doctor used to have a copy of something very similar prominently displayed on the wall of his surgery. Raised a smile.

Reserved Parking at Crown Plaza, Docklands - Cancelled

I usually use JustPark for parking spaces, and choose (as you did) a hotel, sports or leisure centre and avoid the option of someone's driveway. I hope you find a convenient and safe location.

    rejecting a car

Was the car you rejected a diesel? If so, was the oil burning smell the DPF regenerating, perhaps? If so, this is normal.

    Filling up petrol station

Some years ago I had a similar problem with a diesel BMW. I could not fill up at my local Esso station - I couldn't get the filler nozzle properly into the neck of the tank. The attendant there told me that the tolerance on the size of Esso filler nozzles was such that some were just a little...

    Mrs hates it

Have you checked the tyre pressures and tried dropping them to the minimum it says in the handbook. Are the tyres run flats? You could try something like Michelin CrossClimates or equivalents, which tend to be more compliant.

Ah..."The Navy Lark"! What a brilliant radio series that was.

    Sold my W205

I've left the fold and bought a Volvo XC40. Back problems were the driver for this move. I find the Volvo's chair extremely comfortable, but there's too much technology in the car for its own good - much of it I switch off.

Even more new jokes... (No UK Politics please)

I have indeed. I needed a vehicle more suited to my dodgy back and looked at the MB range, but wasn't overawed, so looked at other options. I've had three Volvos in the past and eventually went for an XC40. Which reminds me, I must update my profile here...

Even more new jokes... (No UK Politics please)

Karl Marx is an historically famous figure, but nobody ever mentions his sister, Onya, who invented the starting pistol. Before the crowbar was invented, crows had to drink at home. I couldn't explain to my mate what the muscle that helps you breathe is, so I drew him a diaphragm. Another...
