Experts: Removing the lower exhaust pipe turbo bolt on a CLK320cdi / C320cdi v6

Hi, Any experts who could advise on how you remove the lower of the three bolts that hold the exhaust pipe to the turbo on the OM642 on the CLK or C Class? There doesnt seem to be any room to get a socket between the bulkhead and the bolt. If you look online, every time you see someone remove...

W209 CLK - Adding DAB - what do do with the existing aerial

I genuinely can’t remember. I don’t recall ever needing to use the FM tuner thus far! when I use the car next, I’ll test and see what I did.

W209 CLK - Adding DAB - what do do with the existing aerial

I'm adding a CarPlay unit to my 2006 CLK. The old Comand is coming out, and I plan to fit a pioneer CarPlay DAB+ unit in its place. It's my understanding that I can't use anything like a DAB splitter for the factory aerial as it's amplified, so I will need to fit a standard 'stick on' style DAB...

    (C/W209) CLK Distronic Retrofit

There's a user on pistonheads and here, mwstewart, who was looking at doing this retrofit on his CLK. You may find some details by searching.

New Channel - MB Workshop Videos of all sorts! (Mixed English and German)

https://www.youtube.com/user/MBOwnersClub This channel has an ever increasing number of workshop videos being added on virtually every Mercedes made in the last ten years. Titles are a little obscure and probably badly translated, but there's some very useful stuff in there - I found the...

    W209 CLK 320cdi gearbox "died"

So, 80 miles in, a new valve body and plate, and the issue seems to be resolved - I have my CLK back! Adding this to the list of 7G Gearbox issues caused by a faulty valve plate - and this one didn't raise any codes!

    W209 CLK 320cdi gearbox "died"

W209 CLK 320cdi gearbox "died" £1616 minus some Official Owners Club Discount, to be (fairly) precise! Incidentally, this was slightly cheaper than a couple of quotes I got from specialists , mainly because they didn't have a genuine STAR to do the SCN coding, so they needed to take...

    W209 CLK 320cdi gearbox "died"

As an update thus far, my dealer couldn't find a problem, so recommended I take the car away and come back to them when it reoccurred. When the car was brought around to me, it was demonstrating the issue! How the associate who brought it to me didn't notice the very large "Clunk" the 'box...

    W209 CLK 320cdi gearbox "died"

Could anyone confirm where unit N15/3 (i.e. the ETC unit) is located on the CLK? It is now actually unit Y3/8n4 which is the control unit on the conductor plate? It is not in the passenger footwell, mounted to a metal plate. I'm trying to confirm if the ETC unit that the car says it cannot...

    W202 C40 Clang, with Video!

As an update to this (sold the car 2 years ago, but thought i'd update!). This was caused by a brake pad rattling about the caliper, due to the retainer being fitted the wrong way around!

    W209 CLK 320cdi gearbox "died"

So as an update, this fault has been disappearing and reappearing over the last couple of months. Bit the bullet and took it to Mercedes, expecting a new valve body and conductor plate. Drove it three miles to the dealer in limp mode and as i pulled into the dealer, the gearbox jumped back...

    Preglow indicator light

Yep, some kind soul snapped off glowplug number 1 in my car. £600 to extract, so i've left it. Even in the depths of winter the car has started perfectly.

    Significant CLK Speaker upgrade (Discount)

Ha, I would have snapped your arm off 6 months ago, as i've done this upgrade to my CLK recently. Must admit the sound difference is massive!

    Digital speedo wrong.

As mentioned above, 60kmh is 38mph. I've had this issue myself after the dealer coded my cluster for star but messed up the region coding. Easily fixed, but does need a star.

    W209 CLK 320cdi gearbox "died"

So the AA man helpfully cleared the codes at the time when the car was recovered home, so i've seemingly not got anything further to go on, other than "the ESP and the engine ECU couldn't talk to the gearbox ecu". I've driven the car 30 miles since, and it's been fine, even passed its MOT...
