right ! local scrap yard just got a (w202) c180 in with 80k on the clock, and I managed to get the diff from them for £100. after geting it found out it was a different ratio! 3.64 :1 mine is a 3.91 :1 changed the damn thing today anyway as mine was making a right racket by now. everything...

Thanks for the reply, Where was that ? can anybody tel me if a diff off a w201 is the same ?? obviously it would have to be one with an ABS sensor and need to be the same ratio ? I understand a different ratio could cause problems with electronics as the sensor's would send different signals !.

the old way ! drastic but it worked I use a 1989 190E as a tacsi and used to take the seats out soak the with warm, water sprinkle some washing powder on scrub with a scrubing brush, wash of with a hose pipe, suck with a vax wet'n'dry and alow to dry in the sunshine ! VERY DRASTIC ! I know but...
