    Paint protection c350e

If Chelmsford isn't too far away, I'd get in touch with Definitive Detail. They have been around for over 20 years and have worked on some seriously high end cars. Look at the Gallery page on their website, plenty of Mercs have been fettled there: Definitive Detail in Chelmsford

    First time using a DA

A wool pad on a DA for a first time user! Is that wise Captain Mainwaring? Although Mercedes clearcoat is some of the hardest on the planet, it is always wise to remember you can't put back what you take off. The number one rule is to start with the least abrasive combination and work your way...

    First time using a DA

If you use a wide felt marker to put a line on the rear edge of the backing plate, you can immediately see if the pad has stopped spinning and adjust you downward pressure accordingly.

    Wheel dust barrier spray?

You definitely seem to be on the right track with with the KKD. A bit pricey but it is considered a second generation sealant, a step up from the ubiquitous Gtechniq C5 Wheel armour and with a variant available for non-gloss wheel finishes to boot. Krystal Kleen Detail R-evolve Matte @ £44.99...

    Wheel dust barrier spray?

You may want to consider trying some Finish Kare FK100P which is a High Temperature paste wax. It will resist the red hot brake compound particles which fuse to normal wheel protectants or the wheel lacquer itself. It comes in an enormous 412g tin, provides a ridiculous gloss to the bodywork and...

    Gel plates

I believe pukka plates also display a British Standard number and the postcode of the company that made the plate.

    GLC interior hand sanitiser damage

Nightmare! That is the black ash trim finish. It is actually natural wood with a protective lacquer over the top. The alcohol of hand sanitiser has reacted with the protective lacquer. I doubt it can be corrected unless you are prepared to sand down the wood to completely remove the black-tinted...

    Tint this?

My L200 front and rear side windows has the legal maximum tint of 30% but the film used also had a mirror finish which gave the appearance of the windows being darker than they actually were. My GLC has factory tints which means the rear side windows and tailgate are substantially darker.

    New car detail advice please

Looks like you are well sorted, I doubt there is more you could do to ensure an optimum paint finish for your new baby. Hope you will post up some pics of the finished job along with details of the work done and coating used. I'm sure others in the same situation would find your thread...

    New car detail advice please

Hi, welcome to the forum and congratulations on the incoming 70-plate E-Class. If you are referring to the MB SupaGard paint protection package I would personally advise against unless it has been thrown in for free during your negotiations. It is essentially £30 worth of acrylic sealant applied...

Cleaning brake dust - Black AMG wheels

Have a look at the second generation ceramic wheel coatings now starting to appear. At £37.95 for 30ml this one is better value and longer lasting than the ubiquitous Gtechniq C5 Wheel Armour: KKD R-EVOLVE

New Dual Action polisher ordered for £99 which blows the rest out the water

It really does depend on your criteria when choosing a DA. A 21mm orbit means it will cover the most real estate fastest and will be great for applying glazes and sealants. However, for corrective work you are better off with an orbital action closer to that of a rotary ie. smaller is better...

    Concrete water - Worst nightmare!

I really feel this guy's pain. Crossing on the lower level of the bridge when builders, working on the upper tier, dump concrete saturated water as he is passing underneath in his freshly detailed Mercedes. I sincerely hope he has a ceramic coating applied since the water would have been caustic...

Polishing sponge and buffing pad for polishing machine

+1 on the Hexlogic pads (buy cheap, buy twice) and the hand application of wax. I too have great faith in Blackfre products, they really do seem to punch above their weight and bring that little bit extra to the party. Here's a photo of my GLC wearing their Wet Diamond paint sealant topped with...
