Hi Carat, it would be great to get it fitted too but you're a good distance away and the cars only working in reverse. Hence maybe just buy, unless you have some suggestion as to getting it fitted too.

Fluid level seems fine, it failed without at the enterance to a roundabout in the middle of town during the morning rush. No real warning signs other than a very slight judder on the motorway a few days earlier.

Some forums on the seem to be suggesting it's a 722.415 Regards repair I assumed the cost may be unreasonable. However maybe I'm wrong.

I'm looking to replace the broken auto gearbox on my E300D 124 estate 24v. Is it possible to replace it the gearbox with another auto gearbox from another Mercedes of the same era or will I have to get one from another 124 e300d? Can anyone advise.
