What is a heater ? Sorry just a climate joke......is the smell definitely from your car? You were not clear on that point. It could just be that you are not recirculating your air and are bringing in fumes from the outside.

Oil brand I would think for your climate that is perfect. My mechanic recommended 20W-50 because of the climate. How do you like your car? I love mine. Would not change a thing !

Watching this thread...."making oil ?" I have been watching this thread. Have you solved your problem ? If not, is the oiil the correct color ? Does it have a smell of diesel fuel ? You could have a bigger problem that is putting your motor at risk.
