Cant seem to find date on the main one but the aux is 04/04...the original I guess. Have ordered a new one for Tuesday hopefully but in the meantime your right I will go and get the batteries tested. thank you for the reply

Saga of SBC is still running ...have charged both batteries and yet still get a reduced braking-start engine warning when I unlock the car in the morning or at any other time for that matter. Did an alternator test in that checked main battery voltage before starting car..12.7V and then after...

Morning, Forgot to add that I get different messages, not always the same. Sometimes get reduced braking, start engine, sometimes ..longer braking distance required , and also another along the same lines..

Many thanks for the replies, and yes a111r I did notice that the starter pinion did not disengage properly and ran on after the engine had started.However all seems to be fine at the moment, starting as it should.Lets hope it stays that way

turns out to be short somewhere causing the fuse to blow in the fusebox to the side of the steering wheel. Will need to get it looked at.
