    Mercedes W211 Facelift door handles

Silicone grease is very good, and won't react with anything crucial, also white lithium grease (aerosol) is also very good, as once propellant has evapourated it leaves behind the grease which stays in place for ages.

Hi, well, I'm no mechanic, but I would be suspicious of/check/replace the thermostat and temp gauge for starters, just so you know that the car is running at the correct temp. What's the igition system on your car? I'm thnking the advance/retard mechanism may be faulty and cusing the car to...

    High revs damaging?

I've aways liked diesels for their torque, and pulling power, and nower-days they are more or less as fast as the petrol models. They can be a bit noisey, but I do like the sound of a diesel engine (the bigger the better) 24V71 Detroit - YouTube (shame about the OTT American fella, but one...

    Lpg backfire

Hi, it maybe a mixture issue, but it's deffo something for a specialist/LPG registered technician, due to the explosive nature of LPG.

Caught with mobile phone in traffic?

Indeed, but if engine off, ignition off, trans in park and parking brake applied, a prosecution would be very unlikely?

Caught with mobile phone in traffic?

To be classified as "parked" would the vehicle engine/ignition be off, and the parking brake applied (and in the case of an auto the transmission in Park) ? Therefore, if on a motorway with miles of stationary traffic would you not be classed as "parked"? and therefore legally be able to use a...

    Parking sensors

There are no user accessable diagnostics on the Almera AFAIK, and there is nothing in the user manual or the Haynes manual about the sensors. It sounds like you are right up agains a wall as soon as you put it in reverse (very annoying) so I think maybe one of the sensors has failed/short...

Is it really worth buying Premium brand tyres?

I put Pirelli P6000's on, at about £65 each, fitted and balanced from national tyres. Had good results from them on my last car, got good milage and they were good in the wet.

    Sorry

Is this information not readily available in the Haynes manual?

    Parking sensors

Not for a mercedes, but I guess they all work the same? It's SWAMBO's car (nissan almera) when reverse is selected the beeper gives a solid tone (just on all the time) any ideas what would cause this, or where I should start looking, or how to test the sensor system? (Obviously the best...

    Glow plug lamp stays on

It does say in the manual somewhere that the glowplugs and light will remain on for a short period of time after starting (2 mins seems feasable) if the enginine management system requires it for better combustion, and mine does do this from time to time, so I don't worry about it. As yet I has...

Which Compression Tester Kit for OM617?

The pro ones are a lot more money, I always say if you use a tool every day, or your livelyhood depends on it, then spend as much as you can afford (even a little more) but if you only need it for a specific job, or to use maybe a couple of times, then cheaper is best. Lets face it, how many...
