It's more a case of that I'm not considering a car fitted with the M156, so why would I give a flying **** about it and anyone's opinions on an engine I don't want?

Does the IPE have valves? If so, it'll be louder when open.

Turbo back without cats will invalidate your warranty as you will need a map. Less boxes equals more noise.

Rod bearings on the s65 and s85 is a thing. I know several owners who left it too late and the bearings failed. Mine had copper showing on several of them when I had mine changed. The S63 suffers rod bearing issues, bent rods, injector failure, oil pump failure on the earlier cars, I think...
