I've been away from the forum and MB forums in general for a couple of years now and only found out about Derek's passing thismorning. I wasnt in touch with him for past couple of years, but I met with him several times, at his home, he came to mine and also at MB club events - he was kind...

W124 self levelling valve stripped threads. Which size tap?

All sorted now. Replaced the stuck pipe as the union was already slightly rounded from last time it was removed, but managed to remove the other pipe I replaced in 2012 without issue so I've reused that. New (to me) levelling valve fitted and all good :D

W124 self levelling valve stripped threads. Which size tap?

yeah 11mm flare spanner.... one is pretty rounded. This was removed and refitted in 2012 when I replaced the spheres so I guess its now past its best. The other sphere pipe should be easier as I fitted a new one at the time so hope to retain that one. They are standard brake pipe...

W124 self levelling valve stripped threads. Which size tap?

Yep that would be me, thanks Rob Parker! Looks like i'm going to have to replace the smaller 11mm pipes too to each of the spheres as they are stuck on there tight and i'll have to cut them and use a socket to get them off

W124 self levelling valve stripped threads. Which size tap?

Yeah its the 12mm ones that im replacing. Bought some new unions from MB as the old ones were too rusted to re-use. Unfortunatly the threads are stripped in one of them, so when nipping up tight to get the seal on the flare, its not going tight enough :(

W124 self levelling valve stripped threads. Which size tap?

Replaced the SLS lines today on my 1994 W124 estate. However on the levelling value to one of the main 6mm pipes, the threads are stripped. I want to repair this with helicoil, but need to know the type and size of the union/bolt for that part... (ie size and whether its metric/imperial...

    W124 'sacco' panels/bumpers - matte or gloss

Thanks I think I will go with gloss. It's the green estate by the way. I also went with gloss on the silver car too as I have had the Bumpers resprayed for that, but not the Sacco panels - on that car though it's brilliant silver for body but atlas grey for the bumpers but they are...

W124 door hinges - how to fit onto door

Hi I have bought a 2nd hand door from ebay. It came with the hinge removed and appears to have just holes where the hinge went, without threads. Does anyone know of any tutorials on how to fit the hinges on...? are there backing plates with the threads? Access to the top hinge looks...

car transportation companies that deal with shipping

Hi Can anyone recommend any companies that would collect a vehicle from my house in Scotland and transport it (via low-loader/transporter) to Hull and put it on a ferry? I'm selling a car and the purchaser (who is genuine, not a scam, club member etc) lives abroad. I need an easy way of...

They are NLA at the dealers (well were when I asked in 2011) I got a genuine new-old-stock set from euromerc a few years back that i fitted to mine. There are several ebayers that pop up with ones properly moulded for W124. I got a set for my wife's W124 and they were good. alas I dont...
