Time to swap my CLS 350 Shooting Brake for a CLS 63 Shooting Brake. Advice?

No offence taken. It was fully my intention to get the CLS AMG at the start. Never did I see myself that this would end up 10 pages long ending with a completely different outcome. But I’m famously indecisive and also go through cars like hot dinners so an AMG will most definitely happen, just...

Time to swap my CLS 350 Shooting Brake for a CLS 63 Shooting Brake. Advice?

To be fair, I was on a fairly tentative drive and didn’t want to go crazy and was certainly focussed on driving rather than listening!

Time to swap my CLS 350 Shooting Brake for a CLS 63 Shooting Brake. Advice?

Actually it comes with an Akrapovic exhaust already fitted! It doesn’t sound like an AMG of course but it does sound angry as hell! Here’s a pic from the ad

Time to swap my CLS 350 Shooting Brake for a CLS 63 Shooting Brake. Advice?

If I was buying a do it all single car, an AMG would be absolutely the choice. I ruled out my flirtation with an RS6 and was previously negotiating with Targa about Nitos ex CLS. I guess I just prefer the large AMGs rather than the small ones As a 2 car proposition, no AMG fit the bill for me...

I’m just not keen on the CL exterior or interior at all I’m afraid

Time to swap my CLS 350 Shooting Brake for a CLS 63 Shooting Brake. Advice?

The other thing is that with Covid, I don’t need to buy the family car yet as for the limited long family drives we do, we can use my wife’s car. So gives me some more time to search for the right one. It will probably be a newer CLS 350 again

Time to swap my CLS 350 Shooting Brake for a CLS 63 Shooting Brake. Advice?

Not missing anything, they all achieve the same thing, but what i realised was a) driving a cls63 daily, would cost me a lot in fuel b) I was very happy with the luxury and comfort of my cls diesel c) man maths was telling me that I could end up with 2 cars this way. One gt type cruiser which...

Time to swap my CLS 350 Shooting Brake for a CLS 63 Shooting Brake. Advice?

Don’t get me wrong, the R8 is probably the better car, and I’d love to have one, but maybe that’s for next time with my budget. I’ve seen a lovely m6 competition that I’m going to view later today, 600hp, should be great but I might hate it so need to try it

Time to swap my CLS 350 Shooting Brake for a CLS 63 Shooting Brake. Advice?

Agree with all of that, but i think to be able to get one with the miles and spec I’d want, it’s going to be above my budget. Still think M6 might be the way forward

If I wanted to play a computer game I’ll put the PS4 on instead!

Time to swap my CLS 350 Shooting Brake for a CLS 63 Shooting Brake. Advice?

Does that apply even to the first gen 4.2 v8? It’s not that quick in comparison to other cars more recently but what makes it so much better?

Time to swap my CLS 350 Shooting Brake for a CLS 63 Shooting Brake. Advice?

When I say family car I mean something large that can carry a lot of stuff, M6 definitely not big enough for that. In terms of what I want from a car, I’m a large lad, so little nimble sports cars are not for me, so things like exiges etc are out. Plus I prefer the fast GT type car anyway...

Time to swap my CLS 350 Shooting Brake for a CLS 63 Shooting Brake. Advice?

Right, back to why I started this. I’m finally in a position to actually buy something again. And you’ll be pleased to know I’ve finally made a decision about something! That decision is that I’m definitely going to get 2 cars, one fun and one family mobile. But I’m not going to get the family...

Time to swap my CLS 350 Shooting Brake for a CLS 63 Shooting Brake. Advice?

So the buyer of my TVR was supposed to transfer funds today before collection tomorrow. He’s just decided to pull out and I’m extremely annoyed. This other car search will have to go on hold until I find another buyer. Hopefully days rather than weeks but who knows

Time to swap my CLS 350 Shooting Brake for a CLS 63 Shooting Brake. Advice?

The regular trips are usually 2-3 times a year, to Frankfurt area. The non planned trips probably 4-5 on top also to various part of Germany or Netherlands.

Time to swap my CLS 350 Shooting Brake for a CLS 63 Shooting Brake. Advice?

Well, ok if I must. But I warn you, it doesn’t involve getting an AMG. and this isn’t my confirmed choice yet, because this is me. So I was doing some maths in the fuel costs for the regular, if not frequent, long drives I do to the continent. It’s not a small amount. It got me thinking that...

I've had another idea about what I can do but I don't want to say for fear of getting flamed!

Time to swap my CLS 350 Shooting Brake for a CLS 63 Shooting Brake. Advice?

Thanks, yeah seen those vids (more than once!) and I'm pretty set on the CLS now, when I find the right one. I am though considering that E63 S I posted earlier, as an interim measure depending if I need a car in the meantime and it's still available. I've contacted them to ask a few questions...
