Safe depth of flood water to go through in a GLC

Putney High Tide Club on Facebook shows a succession of Mercedes and others caught out by Spring and Autumn tides on the Tideway. An expensive mistake https://fb.watch/shmnihkkWq/?

A friend has - genuinely - just spent five nights in hospital as a result of walking downstairs while reading work emails. No silent EVs involved

Safe depth of flood water to go through in a GLC

How long for? Seconds, minutes? Are you only interested in the effect on the engine? Not on the the exhaust, fuel lines, electrics / wiring, hvac, the carpets, rubber seats, brake pipes, and bodywork etc? Do we know at what depth the GLC starts to float?

    The EV fact thread

Proving, once again, that people don’t understand statistics. But journalists understand clickbait Give it a moment’s thought. Who drives EV’s and why? What do boring old safe drivers like you and I drive? What are high mileage, long hour taxi drivers driving in city centres these days? To...

    The EV fact thread

Alternatively just drive a great ICE car, take a plane to fly thousands of miles and rent an EV when you get there. Remembering that by one decent flying holiday you’ll produce more CO2 than you could save by converting to EV for a year

Last day in da House for many MP's. Good closing quote for the superb Harriet Harman. "House of Commons records show that I have spoken in this chamber 9,880 times but I have to say that when you discover that the Prime Minister was two years old when you were first elected, you realise...

Methinks it's a bigger issue. Australia and NZ didn't "do" Covid. They just closed the borders and hunkered down Here's a question. In the past, did you know folks who did seasonal picking, and did you know blokes who went into proper long distance truck driving? I know I did. These...

And I’m explicitly pointing out that the picking shortage is a pan-European problem that isn’t really about Brexit.

And it’s not just Europe. Same problem in North America and the Antipodes. There’s better paid, more interesting jobs for the people involved. And where you can check your iPhone once an hour and not have to hit picking targets. Long distance driving? It’s fine if you need the money, but most...

Particularly annoying is that so many vineyards in Provence have been, and are being, pulled up because of the shortage of pickers….. “because of Brexit.” (According to Remain) https://www.thedrinksbusiness.com/2023/10/staff-shortages-continue-to-bite-in-the-wine-trade/

Exactly. Right across the EU, crops have been left in the fields to rot….. and you think France, Germany, Spain and Italy are short of migrant pickers because …. of Brexit? https://www.europarl.europa.eu/RegData/etudes/BRIE/2021/689347/EPRS_BRI(2021)689347_EN.pdf

Ditto. Lifelong supporter of the EEC, and spent most of my career specifically working on Pan-European “stuff” with Pan-European team, but started to throw my toys out of the pram when the EC pushed through the Treaty of Lisbon & the Five Presidents despite obvious objections across Europe...

“Maybe?” If English voters had any say, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland would all be independent. Passports, hard borders, quotas, tariffs, and the disappearance of the Labour Party majority in Westminster: what’s not to like?

Talk us through. How did Brexit cause the pan-European shortage of young lorry drivers? (Nearly three quarters of a million, allegedly). Is that what also caused the young truck driver shortage in the States...
