    S-Class Buying Advice

I knew about timing chain potential problems and checked it with the Merc Indy garage who serviced it in March. Should have got an Indy inspection!!!

    S-Class Buying Advice

Sad news. Took it in for MOT and check up at Wayne Gates in North London, and Terry told me the timing chain and other bits need replacing and not good idea to drive it far as was - - £4.5k plus another £1-1.5k of other things needing doing. So I’ve had to sell it for £5.7k (paid £8k three mths...

    S-Class Buying Advice

So I’m the OP and I very nearly bought a W220 as I love the way they look but reading around here and only having one car with 5 hrs round trip every other weekend to see the kids I got a W221 a few months ago in the end - S350 AMG Kit 2012 BlueEfficiency, 165K miles, £8K, spoke to Wayne Gates...

Spotted W221 AMG Twin in Devon

So here I am on holiday in Devon and it’s obviously raining in mid-August so I go to Sidford (yes it’s near Sidmouth and yes it’s tiny) to get fish & chips feeling really sorry for myself and found a parking space where my black S350 AMG wouldn’t get dinged and look what I found - a twin in...

CLK500 W209 braking vibration only at speed

AndrewOI is best advice. ☝️ Just FYI I had similar on my 2012 S350 (judder only at high speed braking) and new front discs stopped it - on a previous car a sticky calliper created similar judder.

    High mileage....big problems ?

Thanks MrGreedy -- mine's a petrol, I've read about thermostat here and although I reckon I could change it, I'm going to take it to Wayne Gates in North London and ask Terry to change it and look the whole car over. I'm driving to Devon next Friday on its first big drive and he said it won't...

W221 2006 S600 rear entertainment system remote control

Found this on US forum MB World here. And elsewhere say you have to go to dealer (or can registered indies also do this?) to programme the remote and headphones. My new to me 2012 350 L doesn’t have any remotes or headphones so expensive to buy on eBay then pay for coding vs my daughters using...

Full MB and Indy specialist history, I paid £8K. Falkirk Car Carriers brought it from Glasgow to London £350 cash - easy and efficient service.

And meant to say it’s on 167K with 3 previous owners, carriage company for first 120K, previous owner changed all four struts and air suspension compressor, lots of suspension linkages, ball joints and rod ends (correct names?) and steering rack. 🙂

    High mileage....big problems ?

This arrived yesterday - 2012 350 L Blue efficiency. Very excited. Jobs to do — thermostat on way out, passenger door stay unscrewed itself from door frame, stone hole in lower protective grill, no remote or headphones. Super solid build and ride. Comfy and well designed. Looking forward to a...

W221 Buying Advice / Buyers Guide

I work for Haymarket who publish Autocar (here's their review) and What Car? (here), and for editorial balance ;) Pistonheads' The Brave Pill here but this forum is really good for more info so take some time to read around, and you'll get a good idea of what's in store.
