Ohh got caught out with the blocked drain!

All back together and working just fine. Funnily my drivers side window now expresses all the way up and down, when it would only move in bits before! Maybe there was residual water in the connections down there. Strange cars these!

Ohh got caught out with the blocked drain!

I was almost like someone spilled a pint of water behind the glovebox when it happened. Well the water got all the way into the blower motor. Still works ok, but the problem must have happened before as it was a slight bit rusty around the bottom. A good dose of contact cleaner and some light...

Ohh got caught out with the blocked drain!

Howdy, Drove the car over the weekend, in torrential rain. Wife alerted me to water gushing in from the back of the glovebox - instantly knew what what it was. So checked the drain hole and it was blocked, cleaned it out and water dumped out the valve as it should. Currently have...

    W220 power window wiredness.

Today, I took off the door card and had a look inside. All looks super clean, and double checked the connector. Also had a look inside the Door module, no blown capacitors, or anything else to indicate an issue. The window does work, up and down, but I can only move it 4" or so with each...

Got an SRS code B1859 - anyone know what part?

Ta, I am thinking clock spring too. The SRS light can go on and off if you tug the wheel, so must be something amiss in there somewhere. Cheers!

HBC-700 BT handsfree install - W220 - Should be fun!

Ok so far so good, got the screen in and the control wheel. Grrr holes, but as it will be fitted and left, no problem. LCD in and re-soldered. Control wheel location. How it is all looking so far.

HBC-700 BT handsfree install - W220 - Should be fun!

Cheers! Will find out when I powerup the system after I have installed it. For such a big dash finding a place to put the control wheel leaves just one place. Hope I get it right as it needs 3 holes...

HBC-700 BT handsfree install - W220 - Should be fun!

Ok, all seems fairly straight forward so far. Removed the Comand, and the center dash vents so i can route the wires. Good thing this car is big, there is loads of room to run stuff, not like my Smart car! I decided to de-solder the units, as the plugs would be tricker (don't have a clamp...

HBC-700 BT handsfree install - W220 - Should be fun!

Hi, On my list of to-dos is adding aftermarket bluetooth handsfree. In the past I have fitted the Sony Ericcson HBC-700 system and it always works with my phones so that will be the one to go in. I removed my last one from my old car and stuck it into the Smart Car. Works a treat and is...

    W220 power window wiredness.

Tried all that, no dice. I had the same issue on the sun roof, but the re-train sorted that out (had similar symptoms), this is the only window that is playing up. It is like the window moves 3" then you here the relay click as if it has hit an obstruction. So to fully open, I have to...

    W220 power window wiredness.

Ok, tried a few things. Can't seem to re-train the window, because it only moves about 3" on each press. Button in, window move, till you hear a relay click. Sounds like it is coming from the Drivers side door control box. Now it could be tired relay, or a sticking track I think.

Hmm 13.5v running, should that be 14+?

Cheers all! Will investigate some more. All the power windows feel sluggish, and not as zippy as they should be... Deffo lacking in power somewhere along the way.

    W220 power window wiredness.

Hi, All windows and sun roof work fine on my W220, except the drivers. For some reason, it only moves in increments before stopping..? There are about 5 or 6 button presses down, then the same amount up. This is for the part move, and express functions. I had this on the sunroof...

Howdy, decamped from BMW to a Merc :-)

Indeed, I facelifted my '97 and it made it look a thousand times better. It came in shadowline trim and had real road presence. Went like stink too. Let's see how the S500 feels. It is still a new experience to me, but feels like BA First class, where the e39 was more Virgin Upper class ;-)

Howdy, decamped from BMW to a Merc :-)

Cheers. Yeah the e39 was an amazing car. The 540i was special, and I do miss it :-( Still gong strong when I let it go at 250k miles. Still after a string of them, I though a S500 would be interesting.

Hmm 13.5v running, should that be 14+?

Ta, would this also include a slight vibration (I mean very slight, in line with the rhythmic pattern of the lights at idle only)?

Hmm 13.5v running, should that be 14+?

You didn't, but these always have a load on the battery even when off, I mistook "no load" for absolute 0v ;-) I get a steady 13.52v idling, seems a bit low for such a loaded car. That is with lights off, comand on tho'
